Default Techone HID kit DIY!!! For all Scion drivers out there!

Hey everyone!

I've decided to help out all the Techone purchasees out there by writing up a DIY for my Techone HID kit! Although I don't have any pictures yet, I will get them updated ASAP so that everyone can read and see what they need to do!

For xB and xA owners:

You have, in your hands, a great HID kit... the Techone HID Conversion kit!

OMG! Now get ready to install this kit in only 10-15 minutes!

1) First thing is first, and that is to take out your OEM halogen bulb. First, take off the connectof rom the bulb, this will require a little tug. Then, twist the bulb 15 degrees and pull it out. Keep this stored somewhere and make sure TO NOT TOUCH THE BULB WITH YOUR FINGERS OR GET IT IN CONTACT WITH ANY GREASE! Keep it somewhere safe in case you need to use it again (i doubt it though, once you go HID's, you will never go back ).

2) Now, take out the HID bulb, also being careful to NOT TOUCH THE BULB with ANY GREASY OR OILY OBJECT! Put the HID bulb inside the bulb hole, then turn it 15 degrees to lock it.

3) Next, get the little piece of wire with the 2 connectors on the end, it's about 4-5 inches long. Connect the sides accordingly, putting the male into the female connector so that it hugs each other. Then slide the plastic covers over the connection to insure proper and tight fitment.

4) Now, you should have a total of 3 spades hanging loose with nothing to attach to, yet. What you do NOW is take the 3 spades, and plug them into the OEM stock connector, which should have EXACTLY 3 openings. It doesn't matter which goes in where, just make sure all 3 are in there and in tight!

5) Put your ballasts in a snug area and make sure there isn't excessive heat. Then you can use the screws or zipties to make sure the balast doesnt move. Feel free to use the zipties to round up the wires and such.

6) Start your car, turn on the lights, and watch your HID's as they warm up and BLAST the road in front of you with a crisp, clean beam of light!

For tC owners:

Just follow the directions above, except for all you lucky people, there is no need for the 4-5 inch connector wire! All you need to do is put in the bulb, connect the 2 plugs from the bulb to the ballast, then connect the ballast to the 2 openings in the OEM stock connector!

I will be uploading more pictures to give a better idea on how things work, but for now... I hope this will do!

If you have ANY QUESTIONS AT ALL, please DO NOT HESITATE to give me a PM with ANY QUESTIONS YOU HAVE!

Thanks!

Enjoy!

Also!

If any mods are reading this... would it be possible for this to be stickied? I'm sure a lot of members here would GREATLY benefit from this DIY. TIA!

great wirte up... now everybody can get teh H1dz0r5... and drive down the road blinding oncoming traffic, causing a horrible traffic accident in which some poor unsuspectiong family flips their minivan, it explodes burning everybody inside, then an 18 wheeler slams on the brakes, flips the trailer of gasoline he was carring. now gas is all over the road and the flaming van light up the entire road.

about 10 minutes later the ambulence gets there and the EMT says "Oh my god!!!" mean while the rookie is in the front seat puking his guts out. he tries to get out of the cab, slips on his own vomit and breaks his neck...

all because you put hids in a halogen housing....

sorry im in a weird mood and i just saw tommy boy...

Hey guys,

Wow, a lot of mixed reactions to my write-up, hrm where to start first...

Prototype: Thanks for your comments, and the pictures are old, my fingernails are cut ;).

teksno: I tried to help, but oh well, I guess some people just don't appreciate good help these days. No comment.

English: Too bad projectors dont come aftermarket for tC's. For your information, don't talk about what you don't know. OF COURSE that picture is with projectors, hence the cutoff. I took this picture from J_A_Trevino, who put aftermarket projectors into his xB.

Any other comments?

I don't have time to argue with you, nor do I want to.

I hope that this write-up will help those who aren't familiar with HID setups.

Why is it that every HID thread there is always someone there always stating the cons of it. It has already been stated before. Yes it does blind people with the horrible glare and to do a true HID setup you have to "retrofit" with projectors. Yes, heard it before and also heard that it blinds people and causes accidents in some cases. If someone wants HIDs, then let them. They're doing it at their own risk and the risk of others. Great writeup by the way.

like i said i just got done watching tommy boy... you know that scene where hes trying to sell brake pads and ends up lighting the guys desk on fire... yeah... trying to recreate that.

i was just in a weird vengful type mood... normally im fairly laid back...

and i really wish there was a projector kit for the tc... but seriousle good write up... i just wish there was an actual projector kit for the tc so that way i dontend up getting blinded by all the people that dont know what the hell they are doing.

actually.. English is CORRECT. that picture is NOT indicative of a typical non retrofit system.. and is very misleading to whoever reads this thread. They will think that's the kind of shine they will get and with that type of cutoff which is NOT true.

For my customer J_A_Trevino, it did come out like that. I did not like about ANYTHING and no I am not misleading anyone. All those who are on this forum are well-educated enough with cars to know that you get a cutoff with projectors/

Good write up... could of explained a little better but whatever. As for the material... sorry but it looks cheap. I dont like the idea of plugging it into my stock harness, especially the way u said "IT DOESN'T MATTER WHICH WIRE GOES WHERE, JUST MAKE SURE THERE TIGHT".

Well it's true Hitm@n, the 3 spade openings on the OEM connector are all powered equally same.

There is no need for wiring harnesses because our ballasts only take 7 amps upon startup.

hey yall, xenith is a very helpfull person and that is all he is trying to do is help us out. an install is not going to be the same for every vehicle so this write up is just giving you a general idea of what it involves. as for the picture you all need to chill its just a example, like when you go to mcdonalds and you see a picture of a gurger all nice and juicy and then you order that burger does it look the same? no its just an example of what you are going to get.

I thought it was 3 amps? Thats what u said on another post.

"The ballasts, upon the first 5 seconds of startup, take only 3.5 amps of power from your stock wiring! Since your stock halogens take more than that, our HID kit is SAFE for your stock wiring."

And if you read down a little more... you say 5 amps...... Make up your mind.
