Hi guys,

I may be coming into some money soon, so I was thinking of trading in my tC on either a 2005 STi or a 2006 Evo9 MR. Both are fast a$$, AWD, turbo'd demons but what would be the better buy (I know the Evo would cost more).

2005 WRX STi

300HP
300TQ
0-60 in 4.6secs

2006 Evo 9 MR

286HP
289TQ
0-60 in 4.3secs

I like the styling of the Mitsu but I'm mainly factoring reliability.

Or I could just turbo my tC but then I'd miss on the AWD and warrantied power. Any thoughts?

I have a clip of a ZPI stage I boosted tC on drag radials running a 12.1

Hit me up on AIM, EternalBlueVic, if you wanna see. I also have a clip of a ScionSpeed Stage III pulling 426whp on the dyno

Yeah I saw the ZPI boosted tC drag vid (it's saved on my computer :))

My big things are warranty and reliability. I'd probably have to wait for a year before getting a turbo kit for my tC just to hear the initial reviews and long-term results but by that time, my car will probably be at 25,000 miles. I like the AWD of both the Evo and STi which really would come in handy with the winter time. I dunno, this is really a tough decision.

I've never owned a Subaru or Mitsu, how are the reliability ratings on them (I hear the late 90's Eclipse's are real POS's).

just letting you know, once you own a 4WD car, more parts need to be replace since more stuff is being used in the 4WD than FWD car. i would add more juice to the tC, but if you want more powerful car, get the Subie. i heard that Mitsu isnt that reliable. so i guess you should ask more people about it...

A tough call but I voted for the tC turbo. Cheaper in the long run and it would be just as fun!

just so everyone knows. mitsu evos are bowing motors left and right. the subaru is much safer and more reliable.

Assume you mean blowing motors, are these on stock Evo's? My biggest thing is the STi uses an open-deck block where-as the Evo has a closed-deck, Evo is capable of more power. Not uncommon to see one(Evo) in the magazines upwards of 700+awhp, haven't seen too many STi's topping 500awhp, if any. Now not saying that I'd mod an Evo up to 700+hp since I'd like to keep it a daily driver.

All in all I think I'm actually gonna get an Evo 8 MR since it doesn't have the MIVEC that the Evo 9 has and has a boat load of mods already available from cams to well just about anything.

the STI uses a semi-closed block, not an open. it's not capable of crazy power(700awhp) but it'll get you where you need to go in a hurry, even in stock form(13.4 et with a hard launch)

also, the mitsu has torquesteer when you mod it heavily, the subie doesn't. this is because of the mitsu's transverse mounted engine. not a problem when stock but if you're thinking of building over 400hp you'd better believe you'll need to fight that wheel off the line and on hard acceleration.

you know where my loyalty lies, but in my opinion- the STI or EVO will both get you around a track faster with less modification and both will handle way better. plus they'll do this stock and more reliably than a modded tC.

you'll get a very very quick car with a turbo tC, but it won't turn times down a road course or auto-x like an STI or EVO will.

There is no doubt in my mind the subaru will be more reliable and a better car for years. I've owned mutiple subarus and have never had issues with any, dating back to an old school subaru brat, forester, and Legacy GT now.

All 3 have been great cars.

I luagh at people worried about horsepower, ummm 0-60 in under 5 secs is plenty fast. In fact you almost never get to use the real power of either of those cars legally. Go for the speed and realiabilty of years and years of awd and the subaru. They basically have awd down when it comes to their vehicles.

Why? Save your money ie: car payments, insurance, gas & buy something like a home :lalala:

Well my voice of reason (the wife) has convinced (told) me to keep my tC, oh well. Better off anyway seeing the gas prices as high as they are.
