Default Need stallite help. please.

So I just got my xb a week ago and I got the 6 disk, mp3, and satellite ready deck. Now out of excitment for my new xb I forgot to ask the dealer what all i had to do to get it up and going aside from a subscription, and I just assumed all i had to do was get a subscription. Now I am hearing I have to buy other stuff to get it up and going but no one has been able to give me a definate answer. So please what do i need to do. Oh i contacted my salesman and he said he would have someone contact me but that was 3 days ago and im getting impatient.

You need more than the antenna. You also need the tuner. They both come in a kit for around 270.00. Contact Ken at TRD Sparks (they advertise here!) It is a very easy install but takes about 2 hours or so if you aren't in a hurry. The TRS Sparks website has a downloadable pdf file of instructions on installation. Check that out and see if you think you can do it.
I've had mine for 5 months or so and absolutly love it, ESPECIALLY on long trips!

Awesome thanks for your help. And that is why I want one so bad for the long trips. 6 hrs from north fl to south fl is a boring drive with nothing but religous talk radio.

Nope, won't work unfortunately. With the factory head unit you must use the factory XM tuner.
I don't know if TRD Sparks still have their sale going on but I got the deal that included a one year subscription to XM. When you factor that in, the effective cost of the equipment drops to a little over 100.00. I doubt you can buy the same quality in the aftermarket world at that price point!

^^^^ Is right

I looked all over for a kit that would work with the factory HU
and unless you bought an AUX adapter, then a line booster,
plus the Sat Radio Receiver (with external display), then it
wasn't going to happen! Well, you could do RF transmitter
over the AUX adapter, but the quality suffers.

I wound up picking up a used Factory Sirius Radio setup pulled from
a tC that I hope to have tomorrow, and install this weekend
in my box!

Your other option, which might be cheaper and/or give you
better results in the long run, is to just buy an aftermarket
Head Unit with Sat Radio already built in...

Yes, it will work. The cost for the tuner (150.00) plus the one year subscription (170.00 with activation) is 50.00 more than the deal with TRD Sparks. Of course, you are talking Sirius, and so far there is no Sirius option for the Scions. Makes all this moot. Go fo it!

PIE TOY-03 Aux adapter will give you the line in option you need, then you can hook up a Sirius "add on" tuner (similiar to my SKYFi2 for XM).

Default xm?

I got an xm tuner for pioneer and an antenna but the harness is not compatible with the head unit. Can I get just an adapter, or do I need an entirely different kit?

As I said before. the ONLY setup that will work with the Scion Factory HU is the Scion Factory Tuner. The tuner you have is probably the one they make for certain models of their aftermarket HU's. You would have to get one of those for your present tuner to work.

Again just did this last night. Had to look all over to find the right info as well. You HAVE to get the factory kit and its 480 from toyota or you can get it from ebay or trd for about 260-270.

Its the exact same box as the 99.00 one from best buy but with a different plug. Took about 1 hour to install and sounds great. You also get 90 days free from scion so you dont even have to activate it when you plug it in.

That being said I have 2 starmates as well and they work great. I have had zero problems with the starmates even using the fm modulator. Sound is great, much better than I ever expected. And if you have an 06 then just plug it directly into the aux port.

I really like the dual line display on the starmate and the fact that they scroll. The factory sirius is limited to like 10 characters even though the ipod on the same display goes all the way across. And as far as I can tell so far I cant figure out how to make it scroll.
