Default enlosure/sub combination question...

This is the first non-4 door non trunk having vehicle and I am sceptical about something....

I have 2 12's and a 500 watt amp.....My dilemma is this...

What do you think would be better in the back of a tC? 1 12 and 250w pushing it or 2 12s and 500 watts pushing them....too little? too much? opinions please?

I have plans drawn up for single and double slot vented enclosures.....just can't decide... Never heard a system in hatch before believe it or not...

Thanks guys..

That's really a subjective question, and not knowing anything
about what kind of music you listen too, nearly impossible
to answer without a whole bunch of madly variying opinions.

IMHO, more is always better.
That said, I listen to rock and metal and I have a single 10"
in a bandpass enclosure tuned to be tight and deep.
That's what works for what I listen to.

What type of subs are they? DVC? 2Ohm or 4Ohm? is the amp a sub amp?is it 2 ohm stable? if the subs are dual voice coils 4Ohms each then you can run them in parralel and have 500w from your amp with a single sub

im running one 12 with a 600W amp......due to the limited trunk space in the TC...i would recommend going with the one sub....because the TC is a hatchback you really dont need that much power to make it really thump!

I have had two 10's in the back of my golf hatch, and think that 2 12's would NOT be over kill. Ten's hit a little harder than 12's simply because they dont have the lower range. And i can tell you nothing is overkill, even in a very small hatchback. i never had any friends complain either, oddly enough. probably because they were getting FREE back massages in the back seat.

Absolutely true. Is trunk space a matter in the subject? What about the quality of music. "To thump or not to thump" is the question.

because of my box, my 2 12's don't leave me ANY room in the hatch....but, I can adjust a few settings and get obnoxious loud from them or tight balance for some Dave Matthews or Rammstein..... It really depends on what you want from the system....

What exactly did you want to accomplish with your system? smooth not overpowering bass? or they type that can knock trashcans over?
