xA 4wd
i was looking at: http://toyota.jp/ist/grade/grade/index.html
and come to find out there's 4wd xA out there in japan eh? do you think that should be imported?
i think it would be cool to have it . i mean, it's only $16,800 with 4wd... i think it's a good deal.

4wd eh? it would be nice... with traction control and stability management already available however, its not going to do much better.
as far as performance, its only going to be more of a power hog since its just more moving parts along the drivetrain. we cant even get these engines past 150hp so we are nowhere near the 300hp fwd traction limitation
... also if its anything like the all trac in the matrix, its not made for performance at all.
still though, all trac is pretty cool!

It would be an interesting car to see and drive but if it still has 108 HP, not only would the gas milage go bye, bye but it would take an hour to get to 60MPH.
It would be cool none-the-less.

Wow! Looks like it's split right down the middle as of my post!
Anyways, I'd like to see it, even though we probably won't. While I'm dreaming, a six speed would help bring the revs down on the highway. Plus some form of optional factory forced induction would be great too to help ofset the weight/parasitic loss increase due to the AWD...
Just dreaming here!

I would go for the 6spd idea, but the 4wd, you can keep. Figure something near a 20% loss in driveterain & you got maybe 80hp to the ground. Also adding in the drive shaft, + rear axle set up & you probably just added about 60lbs to the car of rotating weight. So even if you did tune the engine some, it still would not seem that rev happy

If thats true, then how come with the Turbo kit the car gains 60hp, reaching up to 168hp all together? Not to mention, the car would be rather quick with that much hp since its so light :D
still though, why have the all trac if you are going for performance... even with 168hp, traction would be much better handled by a limited slip differential- and you cut back on rotational mass by having 2 less wheels sucking power.
the FF car will be faster than a FWD with the same engine power as long as you keep it under around 280-300hp or so. thats when having an extra set of tires comes in handy
