i'm thinking about getting an xA but i don't know what performance parts to get on it because i don't know if those TRD parts are cosmetics or actually help the performance.

I would recommend going with the dealer parts only if you cant install them yourself, otherwise there are much better parts, check em out in the parts reviews here.

k&n or injen short ram are both better choices than the factory aem cold air intake just for starters.

depending if you want a minor drop, you could get the trd springs which are about 1" lower.... but if you want a drop that youll notice a lot more, tein s-techs, tanabes, goldline, and eibach sportlines would satisfy the look too. i have the tein s-techs and personally i love them

i also have the trd quickshifter which i highly recommend! despite not really changing the height, it improves the shifting feel tenfold!

Remember when dropping that the rear toe is NOT ADJUSTABLE!! If you drop more than an inch you'll toe the rear wheels in and will have to get some angled spacers to fix the issue (and I have not seen any on the market, but I haven't looked a whole lot). Also, if you do the Tanabe 2"+ drop, you'll be right at the bottom of your stock suspension stroke giving you a much rougher ride.

Careful also with any short ram intake. Placing an oiled air filter within 6" of your delicate Mass Airflow sensor is a recepie for a foul. When that happens, it isn't covered under warranty.

It's important that you know why the Scion accessories and TRD parts cost more and sometimes don't produce the radical results that some aftermarket parts do. Any Scion accessories and TRD parts work with your factory warranty 100%. They've been tested not only to make more power/better handling/etc, but to work well with the car for the life of the car.

I hope that makes sense. Please note that I'm not attacking any aftermarket parts, but they are not designed for long term use and do not have to conform to the standards of a Toyota/Scion factory part.

Good luck with the mods and let me know if you need anything!
