View Full Version : We need a FI forum .....

The FI Scions need a forum. We keep getting NA Scions asking if larger injectors will help them or can they use a larger pump. I don't mind helping. But when there are fewer of us Super Charger / Turbos it makes it hard for us to filter through the topics. Or replies we get to a FI question or comement. Can we have just a generic FI forum listed under the main forums list?

Thanks

i think it sounds like a good idea even though im na people who are looking in to f/i could just look their and get anwsers from people who have experence with f/i

Blitz thats my point. If you are NA and have FI question the few of us that there are can answer questions on a forum. Instead of getting twenty PMs on what we did. Or how much power grounding cables will get you. I have no problem with answering all the questions. I just can''t get back to every one and I know that simplyscion and dghotlava would help too.

Im down...and the fact that its only a matter of time before this whole board breaks out into supercharged and turbo'd xB's, it might make sense...if not now, but definitely in the near future.

I just checked the registry. There are 17 Supercharged and 30 Tuboed Scions listed. It seems to be getting bigger. I have had my S/C for almost a year now. As far as my supercharger the Power Enterprise PE300 I know of two others personally. One up North and one in Cali.

That is what I was suggesting a FI forum. I see that a lot of tCs are running the Cam-con too. That in itself has been a whole learning experience.

Yes, we need an FI forum!

As matchbox stated, some NA peeps thought our discussion on injectors would benefit them.

I'm not FI, YET, but have some info that I have already shared thru what I know.

There are two Blitz SC equipped Scions, one xA and one xB, that I know of here in CA.

OK, I am feeling this also.... but I am thinking that it might need to be a little more exclusive? Should we limit those who can REPLY to topics to those who own FI Scions? Anyone could post a new topic, but answers could only be supplied by those who are in the know. I think that might provide the easiest and most trustworthy format.

There are quite a few people who have usable knowledge that don't actually have thier personal car boosted. I spent most of the day today (and tomorrow) helping to install a Blitz SC on one of my club members xB.

I like the idea of a FI forum, just not the exclusive part.

i dont know about the select people answering questions. im not FI but i guarantee you that im pretty knowledgeable with FI and can answer a lot of noobies and basic level stuff for many people. it just sounds kind of discriminatory IMO. we still allow xBers and xAers to answer in tC so why should it be different for FI. just my .02.

I definitley think the f/i forum would be a good thing. As for making it exclusive, that wouldnt bother me. I am knowledgable and am boosted.... Also, just because someone knows alot about f/i, doesnt mean they will give someone correct info about boosting a scion. I know alot about turbos and have another turbo car (supra)... The scions are a totally different ballgame than anything I have EVER messed with. Between the stupid returnless system, the in tank regualator and other crap, there are alot of strange things going on.... So maybe making it exclusive for the answering of questions would be a good thing... But its not me that makes that decision... Ok, enough rambling...

Ya know, I've answered one heck of a lot of questions in various fora here, not because MY xB has a particular mod/accessory/problem/need, but because I have a solid, valid, rational answer.

I think the idea of an F/I forum is a good one. I think restricting it to only those with F/I on a Scion they own is bad.

Not everyone with F/I knows what they are doing, and not everyone who knows what they are doing has F/I...

Driving a Scion with F/I does NOT automatically make one a geenyus... http://tijil.org/thinking.gif

i was on some other forums. they had a system where noobs would not see certain forums till they got xx number of posts. (not like ours where they can see but not post)
restrict people from seeing the general forums (off topic, general for each model and classifieds) untill they prove them selves worthy of being here.

also i see thay some of the forum names are not clear to non-car savy people.
i had a discussion with someone about Drag co. they thought it was for racing related stuff.
they were shocked to learn it was not.

Yeah, I suspect that 'Corner Carvers.' 'Drag Coefficient,' and 'Tread and Butter' aren't really that obvious to many folks.

I've been on other fora that limited n00bies to only viewing a subset of forums, and also limited 'non-members' to viewing only a limited number of forums. I've been on yet others that allowed anyone to post anywhere...

Both have their good points, both have their bad. Right now ScionLife strikes a fairly decent balance, IMHO...

Dewmerz
08-01-2005, 08:24 PM
Though the initial names may be misleading the descriptions right below them are somewhat clear.

Tread & Butter is another section I would like to see split since the offsets and lug patterns are not shared between the x* and tC models. ICE is still common enough to leave alone.

dgHotLava
08-01-2005, 08:32 PM
i would like to see ICE seperate from interior...

there is a thread in Gen tC about a broken chair...should this get lost in the numerious head unit questions and i pod hook ups.
if its interior and not about a stereo (worn out seat fabric, broken chairs, creaks and noises, leather....) they should not get lumped into such a specialty forum.

You do have a point. I just meant splitting ICE between models not splitting ICE to make sense.

Yeah, the descriptions below the titles in some views only are fairly clear, but I'm thinking more about when someone wants to post and has a choice to change to the 'proper forum' for their post - and has no description of the purpose of each.

Do they just grab whatever sounds good figuring the mods will move it if they guessed wrong? :)

Maybe if the forum titles were actually more descriptive to non-cognocenti it might help... :D

'Tread and Butter' is cute, bit 'Wheels and Tires' is a better cue...

As to the splitting of ICE, splitting by vehicle type isn't necessary, splitting by electronics/non-electronics would make sense...

(I haven't looked, but I still wonder what a kitchen chair has to do with anything... )

And, even as a mod, I don't move some posts that really should be moved 'cause I don't really know, for sure, where they belong... :)

Oh! And how 'bout a REAL General forum ("Scion General") for things that affect ALL Scion models, as long as we're thinking on it???

agree 100% Tom.

one ICE for all models.
i don't move some posts because they would be out of place wherever they go (even where they started out)

and a general scion would help...not really scion news or press stuff, but things that effect all scions...
