View Full Version : TRD Supercharger question.....
TurboFrog 08-03-2005, 05:39 PM So I did a search on here and all I come up with is some talk about it being delayed...so does anyone have any idea when this thing is really going to come out? Maybe someone on here works for a dealer and will do a group buy? :tap:
scixB 08-03-2005, 06:45 PM last i heared was it was delayed...then i heard the stop the testing on it and canceled the project. not sure if that true or not.
TurboFrog 08-03-2005, 06:51 PM Man I hope they didnt stop the kit from coming out I really want to do it!!
ScionofKirkland 08-03-2005, 06:58 PM Man I hope they didnt stop the kit from coming out I really want to do it!!
Hope you know it will void your powertrain warranty.
KingofScion 08-03-2005, 07:05 PM My Regional Managers drove them in LasVegas a few weeks ago. September 1st looks like the ETA now.
You will still have a warranty on your car when you get the TRD superhcharger dealer install on your tC.
Omer.
TurboFrog 08-03-2005, 07:09 PM Omer do you have any idea of pricing.....
duston831 08-03-2005, 07:19 PM Man I hope they didnt stop the kit from coming out I really want to do it!!
Hope you know it will void your powertrain warranty.
is this a dealer saying that it will void the warranty?
rolstc 08-03-2005, 07:42 PM why would it void your warranty if its dealer installed ???
^^ thats a lie by far !!
toastbox 08-03-2005, 07:49 PM Man I hope they didnt stop the kit from coming out I really want to do it!!

Wow! I've seen some misinformation from dealers before, but his takes the cake.
WHen installed by a dealer, the S/C is covered under 5/60,000 warranty. When installed by someone other than the dealer, the warranty on the s/c is 12/12,000 just like any other TRD part.
TurboFrog 08-03-2005, 09:38 PM I figured as much...I work for an Audi dealer and see all sorts of modded Audi's an we never turn them away.
crazy_kat_matt 08-03-2005, 10:41 PM trd parts will not void toyota or scion warranty. and i hear the trd supercharger doesnt kick in till 4k rpm anyway =/ BLITZ or power enterprise is preferible
irv_usc 08-03-2005, 11:05 PM haha, sounds just like the TRD supercharger for the IS300's.
superchargers are a waste of money anyway
crazy_kat_matt 08-03-2005, 11:55 PM haha, sounds just like the TRD supercharger for the IS300's.
superchargers are a waste of money anyway
yea well by the sound of it the trd one does, i hear good things about the PE supercharger though
toastbox 08-04-2005, 03:38 AM I thought the s/c was discontinued. TRD has a turbo now thats like 6G plus 10.5 hours of labor. :nails: :nails:
I could be wrong tho...
I'm quite sure you are wrong about both of those comments. You're the first person to mention TRD coming out with a turbo for the scion line. Also, dealers are now taking orders for the s/c, many were not before, so that should insinuate that it is close to being relased.
toastbox 08-04-2005, 03:55 AM ^^I wasn't blasting you, or calling you names or anything, just simply stating that I am 99.9% sure that both items in your post are incorrect:
1) TRD does *not* have a turbo kit for the scion line. At
least not in the US.
2)The TRD s/c has *not* been officially cancelled.
If my stating thus was offensive somehow to you, lol, well I do apologize, but as I didn't utilize any kind of name calling or such things, I'm not sure how it was offensive to you.
Either way, if what you say is actually true, you are the first person to mention it on this board.
I'm curious, where did you get that information from?
toastbox 08-04-2005, 04:22 AM I am with a toyota dealer ...there in not a s/c ava.... no such thing as of now.. if you continue to not beleave me heres the corp # 1 800 go toyota ..
i got insides ..
I never said that S/c was available. I said dealers were taking preorders. Those are two completely different statements. Regarding no such thing....tell me, where do the pics of the kits come from? What about the scion corp vehicles that have been at the shows, with the s/c installed? Clearly the s/c exists, whether or not it is for sale is something else entirely.
Regarding the TRD turbo. Despite the numerous people on this board that I know for a fact work at dealerships, not one of them has mentioned anything about this. One of them (scionbandit) is in the process of putting a turbo on his car. I highly doubt that he would go aftermarket if he could get a warranty on a TRD turbo, especially since he would be entitled to an employee discount. That is whay I am skeptical about the TRD Turbo. Also, none of the other dealers here have mentioned anything about TRD discontinuing the s/c. We've heard from several toyota/scion employees that are saying they've seen internal memos regarding the s/c release date.
It's entirely possible that you know what you are talking about, but again, I'm highly skeptical because so many other scion employees all seem to be saying similar stuff, and you're telling us somethign completely different.
L4rry_B1rd 08-04-2005, 05:46 AM Man I hope they didnt stop the kit from coming out I really want to do it!!

I think ScionofKirkland thought TurboFrog was saying that he really wanted to do it, as in installing/ doing it himself. Just wanted to try and clear this up cuz some people seem to have gotten upset by dealer saying S/C will void warranty.
bBlover 08-04-2005, 06:07 AM I wish they would bring the turbo for the bB in Japan here!!
Lonely_Raven 08-04-2005, 12:54 PM I am with a toyota dealer ...there in not a s/c ava....

Your posts might gain a little more credence if they were coherent.

motozen 08-04-2005, 04:12 PM I smell... *cough* bullpoopie *cough* got insides... yeah right.

theBoss 08-04-2005, 07:10 PM I am a scion sales manager and the info I have been given from district is that the hold up has been on testing the emissions before it could be released. It is supposed to be about $3000 parts, and $3400 installed. It will be covered under a 3/36,000 warranty when installed by the dealer. As far as the latest predicted relase date, I,m told "the fall". I hope this helps.
peteyd 08-04-2005, 07:16 PM Man I hope they didnt stop the kit from coming out I really want to do it!!
Hope you know it will void your powertrain warranty.
intresting......cause if thats the case having a turbo installed by the dealer would void your power train warrenty....when i spoke witha service manager he told me that as long as scion/toyota installs it youll be ok you just wont have a parts warretny through them my .02
matty-tC 08-04-2005, 09:15 PM pwned. which dealership was that petey?
rivrtc 08-04-2005, 11:56 PM About the warranty question, the TRD sc if installed by Scion/Toyota will be covered under the powertrain warranty, it will not void it as it is being rumored here. This came straight from a GM of Toyota/Scion dealer that i know personally.
BrEaK_AwaY 08-04-2005, 11:59 PM a GM of Toyota/Scion dealer that i know personally.
a General Motors of Toyota? ummm... that doesnt sound right
but yes, one thing that is known about the sc is if it is bought and installed my the dealer, it will be warrantied
foxtransmission 08-05-2005, 12:35 AM how much horses will the supercharged make vs the turbocharged
