Installed new Megan Racing Headers (no precat)
Well I just installed my replacement megan racing headers and wow what a pain in the rear they were! Maybe it was just me but I had a couple with me and we all tried to but it was all hard as heck. Everything connected to the block and such rather easily but when it came to connecting the header to the exhaust pipping that was the problem. 3 of the people that were with me said that they welded the flange too high up and that was why were having problems. The main thing was that the spring on the bolt which connects the 2 couldnt compress enough for the bolt to grip on to the treading. Not sure if anyone else had this problem. But we eventually got it installed by compressing the spring with a "c" clamp and putting zip ties on it to prevent it from expanding. After the header was installed I noticed a chittering sound that I did not have with the old precat version. It could only be heard when you stomped on the gas. At first I thought it was an exhaust leak but I would have been able to hear it at even idling. Anyone know what this maybe? I was told that it could be more exhaust flow through the piping but that kinda dont make any sense as to why it would give a chittering noise. Anyone with additional information on this please share!

I still have the old version on, and will install the new version this weekend... so I will give my opinion. I don't see any problems with it at the point as it should be cake to get installed.
If you have any fitment issues, I would call Megan, as they are awesome to help out and would support you easily to get everything set up.
I kept my upper engine mount nuts loose to give me a little more flex room down low while getting everything nice and snug... I also didn't tighten up the brackets holding it to the body until everything was at least connected.
There were some tight spots on my first install, but keeping things loose until connected gave me great results.

I dont have the header but if it was really that hard to install maybe the s-pipe/header is now hitting something like the oil pan when you accelerate. Its only a guess but i would be looking for places it could be touching if jerked enough. anyways good luck!
Yea I tightened everything up and I even marked the header with a little white paint to see if it was vibrating and hitting the oil pan and nothing....perhaps it is the sound of the header if so how disgusting.....
Yea, i had the same problem when i originally installed my headers... i have gotten the replacment one, but havent put them on, dont think i will.. but when installing my header, i noticed it was kinda like a rattle; sounded like the protector sheilds were rattling, but i soon found out when replacing my stock exhaust, that inside of the cat, there is a honeycomb type of filter or something... and the tech told me when i installed my header, and intake, that all the extra air that was being pushed out caused these combs to break, and that was what was rattling around... It actually does not do anything, doesnt mess anything up, just very annoying..
hope this helps, and wish you luck with it...
