View Full Version : Question about "PURE PRICING" aedwards 08-06-2005, 05:32 PM I have been talking to several dealers lately and i want a truthful answer. My dad is unwilling to pay the 515 dest. charge and will only pay 250. Some dealers said that they cannot negotiate. Is this true? a1cusaf 08-06-2005, 05:58 PM Each dealer is free to set their own prices, however, the price advertised in that dealer is the one that everyone pays. Most dealers stick with the prices listed online, so basically, yea. The dealer can't negotiate if the advertise the $515 charge. If they advertise a lower one, that's what everyone pays. Bgnome 08-06-2005, 06:03 PM from what i understand, they cant change the price on the sticker. if that price includes destination, then they cant do anything about that. Dewmerz 08-06-2005, 06:06 PM With Scion's price model all dealers should be charging what the configuration website says. If they are upping the price that is not cool. a1cusaf 08-06-2005, 06:17 PM With Scion's price model all dealers should be charging what the configuration website says. If they are upping the price that is not cool. Unfortunately, should and will are different... With pure pricing, dealers are free to set their own price, whether it be lower, the same, or higher. But whatever the price in the showroom is is the price everyone pays. Naturally, most dealers stick with website pricing. The ones that go lower are to be  and the ones that go higher are :loser: rdclark 08-06-2005, 07:59 PM It would suck if your dad let a 2% difference stand between you and a car that's already a stone bargain. It sounds like your dad comes from the old school that believes "delivery, processing and handling fee" is just another way of saying "profit." And that may actually be true to a certain extent. But I missed the part where it suddenly became wrong for companies to want to profit from sales of their products. In any case, what everyone else is saying is true, from everything I've read and been told. The dealers can set their own prices, but part of the deal of being a Scion dealer is the posted price list, and the agreement that everyone pays the posted price. RichC Nate2085 08-06-2005, 08:15 PM yeh man if ur dad is being a hard @$$ over a few hundred dollars that EVERYONE HERE PAYS for delivering and processing, that really is pathetic. maybe u should get a job and pay it so he won't complain about it. Pure Pricing means the price you see is the price you pay. and for everything that is included with this vehicle, you get a lot for just 16k. get him a brochure and show him everything that comes standard and it'll make him think. chucksu 08-06-2005, 08:16 PM With Scion's price model all dealers should be charging what the configuration website says. If they are upping the price that is not cool. Unfortunately, should and will are different... With pure pricing, dealers are free to set their own price, whether it be lower, the same, or higher. But whatever the price in the showroom is is the price everyone pays. Naturally, most dealers stick with website pricing. The ones that go lower are to be  and the ones that go higher are :loser: For scion the pure price part has 3 things to it. The price shown online, will be the price on the window sticker will be the price on the paper work in the showroom. If 1 of these 3 things are not the same, the price is false. The only thing the dealer can change in price, is there "dealer fee" and things like that. The MSRP is what everyone will pay with the pure price system. To the og poster, if your dad does not like the idea of paying the fee, there aint much that can be done. He will just need to get his head out of his ___ & relize that not everything can be bargined. After all what other $14,465 (5spd) car are you going to find with a MP3/CD, 6 speakers, killer interior room, good gas milage, RKE, p/w, p/l, p/m, Traction/VSC/ABS & the toyota name? You could buy a $10,000 chevy & still end up paying more in 5 years then you would if you went with a scion. So if your that worried about it, tell your dad you will fork out the money for the destination cost. :come: Xboy_Scion 08-07-2005, 12:19 AM Scion's website says that the MSRP should include the DP&H fee. But here in S.Calif, half the dealerships include it in MSRP and half try to tack it on top. Don't let them do this to you, print out the page from the Scion website and show it to them. See http://www.scion.com/showroom/xb/pricing "...Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price as of 8/1/2005, including the Delivery, Processing and Handling Fee. (Historically, vehicle manufacturers and distributors have charged a separate fee for processing, handling and delivering vehicles to dealerships. Scion's charge for these services is called the "Delivery, Processing and Handling Fee" and is based on the value of the processing, handling and delivery services Scion provides as well as Scion's overall pricing structure.
