View Full Version : Scion Hot Lava and Element Sunset Orange
George 03-18-2004, 06:21 AM Saw my first Hot Lava xB today, and oddly enough it was immediately ahead of an Element in Sunset Orange. The two oranges are remarkably similar! The Scion color seems slightly brighter, but that might be just an illusion caused by the dark plastic on the Element.

The lighting is a bit different in the photos, but in the sun the Scion is still a bit brighter.

CubiXBb 03-18-2004, 08:24 PM IMO, the Element would look better if the plastic pieces were color matched. But the XB is still better-looking!

Well, Honda tried to be "edgy" in a different way! The big problem with color-matched plastic is that when you ding it the ding is a contrasting color. I'd like it if the plastic was the same color all the way through. Unfortunately, it's not, and the paint has the same apparent toughness as cheese. :(

its_ikon 03-19-2004, 12:38 AM the lava does look brighter and better.
superjeer 03-19-2004, 01:08 AM I just saw an element with body matched pannels. I don't , or didn't, like elements, but that kicked serious a$$. It really supprised the hell out of me how good they look. Honda f'd up, imo.
lavabox 03-22-2004, 10:40 PM The rear doors suck on the element :( You need to open the front door and keep it open until your passenger gets out. less rear leg room, less rear head room, squishy suspension like an suv. worse gas mileage, more expensive insurance. I will keep my two lavaboxes thankyou!!

Well I know that's an option of having the plastic paneling painted so I guess they had the money.
Honda should just do like the 2004 4Runner.....paint the ugly paneling and don't ever look back.
TheScionicMan 03-22-2004, 11:58 PM Don't forget this Orange box...

I know I saw a Volvo this morning in a similar shade too but can't find a pic anywhere...
And to think they seemed to be going out on a limb, but just following a trend. Sadly, they probably could've had as much success using one of their standard Toyota colors like a Bright Red...
lavabox 03-23-2004, 01:22 AM I have a pic of my xb parked next to a mazda. I need upload help. I see the img file but my pic is on my comp, not at a http.
arinvolvo 03-23-2004, 01:32 AM See, now this is why i am so miffed as to why everyone was so excited about the new orange color...it looks just like the same color a bunch of other manufacturers are offering...
I wish they would come out with a nice electric blue.
jackcity 03-23-2004, 02:28 AM Electric blue would kick ___!
Djuan 03-23-2004, 08:51 AM I still want flat black...
