PolarWhiteGirl 08-09-2005, 12:05 AM LSD????? Like the drug or something else? iNFEktEd 08-09-2005, 12:22 AM LSD????? Like the drug or something else? i think he's talkin' bout Limited slip differential... snipe99 08-16-2005, 05:02 AM it should be an option to purchase wih the tc supercharger teksno 08-25-2005, 02:22 PM we probably need a LSD now. my 240 had one and it had less HP... with the added HP and an LSD you could probably chirp 4th... Biznox 12-07-2005, 04:29 AM LSD is not standard on many vehicles. It's an expensive mechanical add-on that most people will not appreciate nor want to pay extra for. I would love to have it personally, but for all practical purposes traction control gives you the same safety/poor weather benefits (minus the performance driving advantages) for alot less money and complexity. Sure, LSD is better, but even sporty cars that cost twice as much as a Scion don't come with mechanical LSD's. You have to choose your battles here, its not realistic to expect this, especially in a car in this price range. If you really want one and are willing to shell out the $, TRD does make an LSD for the xb/xa drivetrain. It's a little hard to find though. Try Japanese or Australian websites though. Ashe_WCM 12-07-2005, 01:04 PM I don't like to quote myself however.... Please add an option for an LSD to all Scion vehicles and please make it a stand alone option not part of a package. Notice I did not say "Please add an LSD as standard equipment". Sure I can go and buy an aftermarket one, however some people use their vehicle for automotive sports, and there is a very large legality difference between adding an aftermarket LSD and having one that is an Option on your car. Sure most people wouldn't get them, they cost about as much as a CAI and new stereo system together , But some people would get them, and with the TRD Supercharger out I think those owners are going to get bored with the one wheel peel pretty quickly and start looking for one. :loser: dgHotLava 12-07-2005, 01:32 PM Biz...KAAZ has a LSD for the xa/xb....not hard to find, and cheaper than /trd. Ashe... not part of a package...WTF??? scion does not have packages, everything is a standalone option. Biznox 12-10-2005, 03:28 AM I don't like to quote myself however.... My point still stands though. The reason they don't offer factory options for these cars aside from color and transmission is it keeps production costs down. An LSD even as a stand-alone option would be expensive and something the majority of people would not opt for or even understand. I'm with you though, I would have chosen one but I know I am in the minority. It's just doesn't make good business sense to offer it as much and you and I would like one. I'm not sure what "legality" issues you're concerned with as far as adding an LSD aftermarket. TRD makes an LSD for this car so it's a Toyota part, unlike the Blitz supercharger (if TRD is offering a supercharger for the 1NZ-FE then it's news to me) I assume by legality issues, you mean warranty. In that case, I'd advise you to Google "Magnusson-Moss Act" and find out your rights. The manufacturer can NOT arbitrarily void your warranty for any modifications you perform on your car. It is against the law. The law is on the side of the consumer here, no matter what lies a dealer may have told you---- the burden of proof is on Toyota. If you make a warranty claim and Toyota wants to try and deny it because of some modification you have, it is on THEM to prove that the modification caused the problem. Then and only then can they try to deny you warranty coverage on that particular issue. They cannot just blatantly revoke your warranty outright because you modified your vehicle. Know your rights, man! Ashe_WCM 12-11-2005, 03:22 PM I was actually talking about Legality of certain parts as regards to grassroots mnotorsports rules. Biznox 12-12-2005, 10:08 PM ah ha... Something tells me that is not what Toyota had in mind when designing and building these cars. That may be the problem. mile_hi_sci 12-21-2005, 01:10 AM i would also like an LSD option :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: |
