View Full Version : Do 18in rims fit just fine on the xb? m4ng0 08-11-2005, 07:58 PM Hi, first time poster here, ive been reading the forums for bout a week and just 3 days ago ordered a 06 TCM xb and was just curious as if 18in rims cause any problems with rubbing or etc? cassidy 08-11-2005, 08:01 PM No there is no problems with the rim size. i have 18,s with a two inch drop with no rubbing jasonpv 08-11-2005, 08:07 PM no prolems here either jboogz 08-11-2005, 08:19 PM It all depends on the offset and the tires. But they'll fit. most ppl use 215/35/18, I think you can go 225/35 with no prob. Personally I like 225/40's but you my rub a little. m4ng0 08-13-2005, 06:57 PM hmm if you do get 215/35 how often would you change your wheels and do i have to be REALLY careful going over potholes and such? UnFocused 08-13-2005, 07:09 PM hmm if you do get 215/35 how often would you change your wheels and do i have to be REALLY careful going over potholes and such? Yeah, duhh If you think about hitting a pothole with 18's your screwed! killermethod 08-13-2005, 09:09 PM 18 no problem 19 no problem 20 you have to do a little hammering and bending to make fit . m4ng0 08-13-2005, 11:34 PM hmm ic ic, my brother recommended that i get a smaller rims size so that i wouldnt have to change my tires all the times and by smaller rims he means from an 18 i would go down to a 17 inch maybe 215/40/17, and im not really into performance, i just dont wanna be constantly think that i may bend my rims at any given moment. I mean from a 18 to a 17 is there really a huge amount of difference in how often i change tires, and how careful and wouldnt i still be worried to the same amoung of degree going over potholes on 17's? ShortBus843 08-14-2005, 12:11 AM mine came on 18's, so yeah they work. But next week... i will be rollin on nothing less than dubs sizzlinscion 08-14-2005, 01:35 AM i have 18's for my box, but i havent put them on yet. How worried do you have to be with 18's and hit a little bump and a pot hole? Would i have enough cushin with 225/40/18 tire to go over a little bump or pothole and have to worry to much about cracking my rims or anything like that. Thanks sizzlinscion 08-14-2005, 04:07 PM ^^^^? jboogz 08-15-2005, 01:59 AM Your rims size really doesn't have anything to do with how often you'll need tires. You have 4 factors you need to look at when buying tires: 1)Treadwear 2)Traction rating 3)Temp rating 4)Your driving The higher the treadwear the better off you are as far as tires not wearing out quickly. The higher the traction the better the tire will handle at higher speeds. The higher the temp the better the tire will disperse heat The biggest thing here is your driving style. If you're one of the guys trying to take every corner as fast as you can or are a very agressive driver you're gonna wear out tires out faster then the "granny" driver. Here's a link that explains this indepth. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=48 JaEohEN 08-15-2005, 09:15 AM i just put 18s on my box...everything is fine... suspended 08-15-2005, 11:38 AM no one has taken into consideration the width of the wheels....i'm sure a 7.5" wheel will fit, but what about 9", also the offset, 15 offset, may have a few issues, but like a 35 offset, you'll be fine. also, tire size does matter, i think the most commonly run tires here are 215/35/18 TXboxdriver 08-15-2005, 12:01 PM of course they fit there are hundreds maybe thousands of xB's with 18's so original sure you want them now?? sizzlinscion 08-15-2005, 03:22 PM could i put a 225/40/18 onthe box? A 215/40/18 will raise it an inch. |
