this morning in moore oklahoma regular unleaded was $2.29 by the afternoon it was $2.33 and from what ive heard it is even higher now. i hate gas prices!

i just got home after driving around for a bit and gas has now went up to $2.36. at this rate it will be at $5.00 a gallon by saturday. i hate gas prices so much

Yeah, most the of country has it easy compared to CA. $2.71 for 87, $2.81 for 89 and $2.91 for 91...in Costa Mesa, CA...and that was at a Shell that's typically not that bad. Across the street at the Chevron it was 5 cents more per gallon. But it sounds like Chicago and NY got it pretty bad too...

...then again wages are higher here too.

when i was a junior in high school (01-02) there was a price war in my area. the local Tom Thumb and Albertsons were lowering prices and they had 6 cent discounts with there club card.

Go to the first page and see the prices this thread started with. Crazy huh. This was in such a short period of time. Now think back when 1.50 was expensive. This is nuts, The recent spike in the last day was sue to the oil pumps and refineries shut down in the gulf of mexico due to the hurricane Katrina. I hope they will fix those first and then we might see a slowing down in gas prices. If we r lucky, a decrease :pray: :pray:

Yesterday evening, before driving to Portland, OR and back today (about 280 round trip) Chevron regular unleaded (87) cost $2.599. On my return I filled up at the same pump in Lakewood, WA for $2.659 (and averaged 35.16MPG running 70-80MPH all the way, with A/C).

Yea regular went from $2.49/gallon on tuesday to $3.18/gal today. Not complaining though, washed and parked the tC, now im riding the bike till prices drop. $3.55 average for 87 unleaded in the Honolulu area.

As the state has a Gas Cap Law, we are happy to hear that the Public Utilities Commission has approved a *decrease* of 50 cents of the wholesale gas price.

There is a 10 day 'lag' before the prices are affected and is based on spot prices from Los Angeles, the Gulf Coast and forgot the region/area on the East Coast.

This decrease will take effect (changes always take effect) on Mondays. This week, the wholesale price had been approved for an increase by 44 cents, so the 2 refineries on the island (Chevron and Tesoro) had raised their prices the maximum amount (even changing the prices 2x during the day).

We'll be seeing a lot of people putting gas on Monday mornings (if they can wait that long) for the lower prices...

WOW - $1.85?! That's crazy; I paid $2.32 at BP (Chicago - NW Side) to fill my tC with 87 last night. I was happy, 10g for $23.50, not too shabby…or so I thought. Apparently we Chicagoens are still over paying. The cheapest I’ve seen gas for is $2.17 at a Citgo however, that was only if you got the car wash. It was $2.29 otherwise.

What I want to know is why gas is still relatively expensive here in Chicago when gasoline futures are only $1.46/g on the NYMEX. At that price, and after all pre-pump markups are added on (about 60-70 cents on average in major markets), gas should max around $2.16/g. There’s a Shell near my Downtown apartment that still has 87 for $2.79! That’s nearly double what a raw gallon of gasoline is worth!

Sorry for the rant :blah: , I normally don’t do this. I just feel like I’m caught in a big game that I cannot win. Hopefully we will get some price stabilization this winter and have that carry on for a few years to come. Take care.
