Default Performance questions

How does an upgraded fuel rail work out when there aren't any fuel pump and injector upgrades?<--at least I don't know of any.

And a crank pulley and Flywheel, what do they add?

And Does anyone know how good Perrins shortram intake is?

1. I don't think an upgraded fuel rail will do much without upgraded injectors. Could be wrong.
2. Crank pulley = less rotating mass same with flywheel. Basically less mass to rotate = faster rotations
3. My 2 cents is it looks nice, but will probably perform like poopie! <- those are my words and not edited due to foul language.

That is how I see it.

To add to the Flywheel, crank pulley. It does not alow it to rotate faster in the sense of a higher RPM, but alows the engine to rev easier. Just think, if you where pushing 50LBs of something, then compare it to pushing 40LBs. The 40LBs would be easier to get moving, but the top speed would still be the same, because you could only run so fast.

What is f/i?

My current mods are Injen shortram intake, E.L. Prototypes Header, cat-back exhaust, and a few other electrical mods, but I want to upgrade my pulley and flywheel, also is there any upgrades for autotranny's?

Also if I upgrade my Fuel rail, what will that due if I do not upgrade my fuel pump and injectors, will it hurt my car or just be something i wasted money on?

F/I = Forced Induction aka Tubochargers & superchargers. Also if you will be running NOS, it might help to have a bigger fuel rail. As for the auto tranny thing, I dont really think there is much you can do for them.

Its up to the owner. I my self could no see forking out $3000+ on something that will get me about 30 more hp. The cost is to high. If you have a auto, then a turbo kit would be great. The turbo would almost always be under boost, so once you get going, you would have very little lag. I would think the supercharger would be the same way, but I dont think a S/C drops in boost as much as a T/C when shifting is done. It would all depend on what you are trying to get out of your car. IIRC, the xB is like a 18.5sec 1/4 car with the auto, so with a power adder, I would think that time would only drop down to a high 16sec if your lucky.
