I have never owned a turbo car before and have always stayed clear of used cars with a turbo on them. It’s hard enough to get a dealership to give you a fair trade-in value when your car is mint with low miles on it much less an turbo. Just how bad does it get when you have an after market turbo on your car? Do they give you way less than they would have originally? I’m just trying to weigh everything I can to make my decision. Right now having to buy 91 octane gas scares me a little too…

I'm not sure what the dealer would pay for a car like that, But if I were buying a slightly used car there would be no way I'd even consider a modded car. You know for a fact that the car has been driven hard.

A guy at the dealer told me once, that they make real good money on the simple fact that when people go to trade these in, they will be modded. They know they will be modded, because that's what they made the whole Scion brand for.

With the factory warranted SC dealers did not want to add anything to the trade-in for me, Carmax actually took $1K off, so with a turbo I would guess you will either not be able to trade it in at all or will lose a lot of money.

when you are ready to trade in your car, you would be much better off removing the turbo kit and exhaust and other bolt ons and selling them and reinstalling the stock pieces. this is exactly why i have a box waiting for stock pieces.

That logic doesn't work to much. The act of driving a car hard doesn't mean the car is 'bad', the act of not maintaining the car is what makes it 'bad'.
When buying a car, you look it over, research, test, etc... only ignorant people dismiss things based off a conclusion they think right without any sound reasoning to back it up. A car driven hard is not a bad car, a car that never had an oil change is, there is a
huge difference.

a car that is run life is more worn, and cars that are run hard for long periods also wear much faster so yes that is a good reason not to buy a car because the vehicle's lifespan has been Greatly reduced

If you've a turbo I'm sure that selling privately to a car nut would net you a LOT more money as a turbo tC would be worth more to a speed demon than to a dealership.

I dont know y so many people trade in there cars, when you can get alot more for your car selling it yourself, Plus if its modded there are always kids out there who will pay more, if your car has stuff done to it.

as a dealership, you don't want to take in a trade that's hard to sell... and another thing is that not all car owners take care of their cars well as lot of people think. like zoltiz said, I still won't buy a heavily modded used car... ;) and that's why you should sell it on your own like JakeMafia said... and that way, you can get more money out of your car when that time comes...

My car is for sale :( . I can no longer afford the insurance and car payment each month. I want to keep my car really bad, but I need to start thinking about moving out, I dont want to be living with my parents all my life. I need someone that will take good care of her. I have a lot of plans for her, but cant afford to do them, Yes, she has the ZPI stage 0 turbo kit on it, with the FMIC. I have other mods as well, go to www.thescionstore.com, click on gallery, then costomer cars, mine is David's tC-t. I have no doubt in my mind that you will have the time of your life in this car, Kenny and all the guys at ZPI have made a really reliable kit, so you know as well as I do, that this will last you a long time, if you maintain it. Please email me at bcats046@yahoo.com, or PM me. If you have AIM send me a message at bcats046 and I will write you back. Now the important question everybody wants to know. HOW MUCH? Well I need at least payoff. 17,000. That is with turbo. Now when you write me i will talk about some of your options. I have a DVD player in there that I still owe money for, so if you want it, it would make your price 17,500 Please contact me if you have anymore questions about the car, and please only serious buyers please. It is hard enough for me to write this yet alone deal with people just wanting to joke around.
