Default rental HHR vs my Xb

Today I had to get a rental for the next few days because my little Xb is in the body shop for front end repairs. My wife didn't stop in time (we won't go there now)).
I found the HHR to be really soft and mushy driving. The little windows offer little viewing around yourself. It does run quiet but is not any peppier. All in all I want my Xb back as soon as possible. Driving my Xb is like I am in control not just along for the soft ride.
Anyone else driven the HHR yet? What did you think?

I can't figure out who Chevy thinks this car is for. PT Cruiser sales are sliding, and you can get one cheap with incentives if you really want one. There will always be a few people who will buy any car just because it's new or just because it's a Chevy, but in the long run I think the HHR is too "me too" and about 5 years too late.

My Wife said the HHR looks like a PT cruiser holding it's breath.

I like it though. Not as much as my xB but I like it. Any vehicle that's different from the norm gets a tacit nod of approval from me, even the 'me too' different ones.

The HHR is the XXL version of the PT cruiser because not everyone is a size two. The PT is too narrow for my shoulders (too much hay bailing as a teen).

I don't consider it as competition or a substitute in any way shape or form for the xB.

I think it's kind of funny that the Japanes companies are designing cars that are new and different while the American companies are designing cars to look like they are from the 1940's (PT, HHR, SSR).

That's because by the year 2000, we were supposed to be all zipping around in flying cars. When that didn't happen, they had to scramble to think up what to do next.

What?

I will say the HHR looks better in person than it does in pics.

I still wouldn't buy a new Chevy.

Or a used one.

I'd buy an old one, or a Corvette, but those aren't really Chevy's.

I've seen a few HHR, and a girl friend of mine wants to get one...so maybe I'll go car shopping with her and get a better idea of what this "me too" box drives like.

I think it's built on the Cobalt base, right?

You got it.

The Chevy Cobalt, Saturn ION, and Chevy HHR are all built on the Delta platform.

I rented one this past weekend and my expierence is as follows. While for being a 4 cylinder it has some nice little pep to it overall it's a huge piece of ____. It rode horribly, the steeting was the touchiest that I've ever encountered, seats were uncomfortable, uncomfortable to sleep in, small windows and had a confusing front dash. What do I expect though it's a Chevy. Only good point is that it can take an inclined rail road crossing at 70mph pretty well.
