Control Arm Rub damage=New Rims
OK......last show I was at I got all the way under my car to clean the rims in the rear (this was my first show btw so I had never seen back there). I noticed the rims were scratched all the way around facing the center of the car. Turns out they were rubbing against a node jutting out too far from the control arm and it rubbed all the finish off the wheel and metal off the node. I called the dealership to tell them I want new rims! This is not my bad....if a tech had come out and told me the problem to begin with...I would have gotten smaller rims or a different width (mine are 7cm now). I was told by a wheel rep from the dealership that "1 out of every 20 scions or so has a node that is a few mm too far out" WTF?????......
so here are some pics.

Part two of the story.....my dealership decided it was their bad and they would pay for a new set of rims only for the rear. They sent a truck to my house and I watched the guy do it. He put spacers (which I didn't really want) but I am now going to get spacers from onetongarage.com. When I asked what brand he was using he said "I dunno, we put them all on all the scions though." YAH.....OK. here are some pics of the mobile unit:

roquexa wut size of rims do you have...
my used to that but was because of the rotation and balancing on the tires.....((other thing that i did was bought a space of 1/8 or 1/4 for the rears and problem solved....

18 inch Enkei (even though I paid for 17s, the dealership messed that one up too)....7 inches wide. I am going to get spacers from onetongarage.com as soon as I can. OH and get this.....as I drove it around, I heard creaking when I braked and when I turned....is this a "too much pressure on the suspension" issue?
The creaking may be your spacers or new wheels. With spacers (and any new alloy wheel) you will have to retorque the lug nuts after a week or so, and then about once a month afterwards to make sure they're tight. Steel wheels have a torque ring that acts as a lock washer. Alloys don't and need the torque checked on a regular basis.

If I were you, I would get the OTGs installed asap, and get rid of the spacers the dealership put on our xA.
If you are running 18x7.5, then you need an offset of +42 or less. Sounds like maybe the wheels you have are +45 and is just enuff to rub.

I dunno man...I just put Sportmax 923's on my wife's xA - 17x7.5, 38mm offset, and I would bet next month's salary that if they were 42 offset they WOULD be rubbing. They are so effing close to that nubbin...I could barely shimmy a piece of cardboard between the rim & the nubbin.
OTG's hub shims came in the mail today - I just have to go get metric grade 10.9 bolts, because he supplies metric grade 8.8, and they're just not rated good enough for this application.

+38 will fit fine in the rear.
I had +42 on a 17x7.5 and only needed a 3mm ring on the dirver side to even everything out look-wise.

Oh, yeah, I know...I said that's what I installed on my wife's car, and that if they were +4 more (your +42) they would DEFINITELY rub.
So I guess I'm saying that 7.5" wide rims with a +42 offset would seem to be too close, based on my 7.5" rims with +38 offset.
Unless Sportmax 923's are 8" wide, which their part# would seem to indicate...ok, now I have to go measure.
8" wide??? I had to pull my wheel off to actually see the damage. I could fit a business card between the wheel and the nub.....because it had already rubbed it down!!!! I am going to tighten the lug nuts every week as advised. And get the OTG as soon as possible.
^^^^ even though I'm still learning stuff about my car, that still sounded like such bullshyt to me. I mean come on!!!!! I think he was talkin to me like that cause I'm a chick....good thing I do know better.
