View Full Version : Wipers in bright colors and unusal wipers shown off here
SciFly 08-25-2005, 06:56 PM red and yellow are said to clash.. but all of the yellow cars I see have red running lights and do not look so bad...
The neat thing about xb is that you can -get away with almost any strange thing and the car still looks -cute-. Hard to mess up an xB.
These are from Advance Auto Parts (local chain) and cost about 12 bucks each. Twin blades of graphited natural rubber.
Also demonstrated: that 18" long bladesets look better and fit better than OEM's 20" bladesets.
-If you have uh, neat wipers, show them off here-
even goofs are OK (incl. rear wiper jokes)
:come:

these are candy red on a chrome (?) plated base. They shine in bright light some plenty good.
It's raining today because Katrina is soaking us in South Florida

BiG_ReD 08-25-2005, 07:02 PM why'd you take off your regular blades? j/w.
SciFly 08-25-2005, 07:04 PM the OEM blades on the xB, at least, are all time bombs;
their splines waltz out on the passenger side set, and whip into the paint at the roofline.
previous threads explain all about that risk.
The OEM blades are inexcusable. The steel strips have ruined many paint jobs.

SciFly 08-25-2005, 07:08 PM Speaking of odd colors, how do you like the -$20- Rally brand plastic wheel covers?
They're a snap to stick on and they stay put.
I paint my plastic covers with Krylon Fusion yellow spray paint.
That's a good paint for plastic or any surface, really.
It sticks well and is flexible and wet-sandable, too.
-this thread may belong in drag coefficient moreso than here? If so, please
let it stay here in general for a day or so most folks get to see it- thanks
-Rally covers: These came from the local Advance Auto parts retail store
15" rally part number 9636. They cover the valve stem. Just pop off the cover
to check your air. Don't mess with dangerous valve stem extensions 'cos those things
might flatten your tire.
If you've any other color car you might find a Krylon Fusion color to key or contrast to your color.
Of course, silver goes with all colors.
Red does not. :P
BiG_ReD 08-25-2005, 07:40 PM I dunno about the red wiper blades but it's not my vehicle. You should get some fat @$$ yellow rims to go with your xB instead of those covers.
saicow 08-25-2005, 07:52 PM yellow blades would be way dope...
xB_Nutt 08-25-2005, 08:06 PM Whatever blows your skirt up, bro...screams "rice" IMHO, but that's what's cool about living in a free country. Just keep on modding and expressing yourself.
Slammed04xb 08-26-2005, 07:08 AM you've offically ruined that xb
YellowSubxB 08-26-2005, 01:43 PM Just a concern about aftermarket wiper blades. Stay away from some of the specials which feature double rubber wiper blades. They can cause too much drag over the windshield thus overloading the wiper motor leading to prermature burnout of the wiper motor. However, yes, also be careful if you are still using the blades that come with the xB. The flat metal spline I have seen popping out of both of our xBs and that of tow other friends' xBs.
Lonely_Raven 08-26-2005, 02:36 PM Goofy colored wipers are a bit too much for me, but I still
love how your digital camera properly represents the Solar
Yellow!
Boxer_Rebellion 08-26-2005, 02:58 PM My retinas hurt.
scionatlaw 08-26-2005, 03:53 PM I like the red on the yellow --- for the record! Now just add some blue tires. :)
VanillaRice 08-26-2005, 04:35 PM Wow! That looks really tacky! On a side note, I have yet to have any trouble with my wipers.
LVScionGal 08-26-2005, 08:00 PM My husband has the red Scion steering wheel on his RS2. lol
Plus I have cf wipers on mine! NOT my choice either!!! I hate them!!! But my xB was his first! I HATE THEM!
You need more red tho if you're going yellow and red! JMO!
teyem9 08-26-2005, 08:11 PM Pepboys?
Peter_Rabbit 08-26-2005, 08:55 PM i have the silver razo blades on my tcm they look pretty cool not ricey ay all
Plus I have cf wipers on mine! NOT my choice either!!! I hate them!!! But my xB was his first! I HATE THEM!
Now tell us how you really feel about them!
chucksu 08-28-2005, 08:55 PM I wish I could find the parts needed to convert my wiper set up to JDM style. I think it would make more sense to have the wipers move that way, then the way they do now.
LVScionGal 08-28-2005, 09:06 PM They go nice with some RICE! lol
Sorry I couldn't help myself! My husband didn't want TCM but took it bc of the leather seats. So he was going to go cf.... then all of a sudden he never fixed his box up and then along side us rolls up a YELLOW one and life for the TCM was over!!!
Bad thing is he threw out the stock wipers bc the passenger side one kept slipping out or something. So until I figure out how to change them or what I need....there those BIG ugly things are....lol
I HATE THEM!!! lol
I'll post a pic later on....so everyone can have a good laugh!
LVScionGal 08-28-2005, 09:08 PM I wish I could find the parts needed to convert my wiper set up to JDM style. I think it would make more sense to have the wipers move that way, then the way they do now.
Which way do they move and why does it make a difference?? :D
jamesgang 08-28-2005, 09:17 PM I like the red wipers - do you have a red one on the rear too?
How about a touch of red for the wheel-covers....?
chucksu 08-28-2005, 09:21 PM I wish I could find the parts needed to convert my wiper set up to JDM style. I think it would make more sense to have the wipers move that way, then the way they do now.

I just took a full look, & they dont really move any different. Its just where the driver sets, makes them seem to work better. I would find it better for the wipers to push the water off to the side of the car, instead of just to the center of the windshield like it does here.
Placebo 08-28-2005, 09:31 PM me no likey
LVScionGal 08-28-2005, 11:08 PM ^^^hi-jacker!!
Thanks chucksu....you know Im only 5'4" but the first time it rained I noticed that where I actually look out while driving, doesn't really get cleared by the wipers. And the back wiper I took off bc it seems to stain the window so dust and water are only on the window around where the wiper went. Im strange...lol
Thanks and btw now Im hungry..."SuperSizeMe" lol
em-de-em 08-29-2005, 02:35 AM Those wipers are ____...
FrankenScion 08-29-2005, 02:41 AM I think he was looking for more people to post their wipers, not criticize his. :eyebrow:
em-de-em 08-29-2005, 04:50 PM Aaaaannndd - you couldn't see the insults coming?!?
LVScionGal 08-29-2005, 08:06 PM I wasn't trying to be mean...I mean, I have some of those on my box, maybe he should have said "Post up your other than stock wipers"
I dont know. I hardly ever see Scions with different wipers other than what looks or appears to be stock. Im also not into wipers so if they were different ones I wouldn't know anyways.
Sorry~
SciFly 09-11-2005, 09:59 AM Aaaaannndd - you couldn't see the insults coming?!?
There is a safety and visibilty aspect you do not yet grasp so I'll tell you that these cheap,
easily installed elecric red or blue wipers might just save yourself from collision some day. They also come in chrome and satin black.
The yellow box hardly has much risk of being struck by a -zoned out driver- due to it's eye-shock value, but -yes-, the color clash factor of these particular wipers further arrests the attention of those who are lost in their cell phones and other lapsed drivers like drunks and joint passers and just good drivers occasionally daydream and make error. I set up the thread speaking only of the style factor, My error that you can't see what isn't spelled all out for you. Your error to assault others without provocation and next defend the wrong. The term is "churlish". Be gentle please. It pays.
LVScionGal: wiper bladesets are easy to install. Also, get a some "RainX Windshield Wax". This is the best and easiest to use form of RainX.
Would it help if I take some pictures of an install for you? I'll do it anyway because it -is- mysterious until we try it for the first time.
-Any eye-arrest you put on your car, front or rear or sides, may save it from a crash-. And you won't ever know it but this is how it is. Any experienced driver can tell you or instances of lapses in other drivers' attention. And even, in his/her own. They see me coming for a purpose other than looking fruity.
em-de-em 09-11-2005, 11:12 AM Mmmm - they're still ____...
SciFly 09-11-2005, 02:37 PM Mmmmmmm and you're still unconstructive.
Why don't you go tell all the RS2 owners that yellow boxes plain or tricked are "____"? It's a ____ color yeah right
So's Lava then. So's the shape of a box, right?
So's a..... hey! where is Bugs Bunny when we need him? :P
emmy de? what a maroon!

While rabbits have the stage let's see them silver Razo blades
I bet they're sharp enough to cut carrots
