Just tell your dealership to replace it. You paid for an 06, you should get an 06. You can also ask the dealer to remove their decal from your car, they didn't pay you for advertising, so why let them? They should remove it free of charge for you. I requested mine not to be put on a few days before I recieved my car.

biggest obvious difference is that 06 has a **** and the 05 doesn't. make sure yours does.

If they give you a hard time then tell them you will call the customer service at scion an complain to them. Do not take that car until it has the proper HU, the O6 with *****, not buttons.

The 06 has *****, not buttons for some of the controls, and it can be operated from the steering wheel (vol, track up and down, and mode(am,fm,cd,aux)).

They out an 05 HU in my car too when I bought it. Took it back the next day with a picture of the 06 HU from scion.com and they replaced it right away.

the volume **** is the main diff. but i noticed that the 06 sound quality is A LOT better then the 05. my friend has an 05 and i have (or had) an 06 and the sound quality was a lot better wiht my head unit. after my accident i took my radio out and put it in his car. and you can definately tell the difference. needless to say he is happy with the new radio. i just wish it wasnt from my car. because its totaled

i had them take the dealer sticker off my car as well, i'm not being sponsored by them so unless they want to knock the price down get it the heck off.

as far as the radio goes, tell them you won't take delivery until it is exactly the way it is supposed to be.

thats ok, my freind bought a Tc, and when it arrived it did not even have a headunit.......apparently that is common in the "port" especially with the stereos.

I know i'm bustin into the tC world, but I just picked up my 05 xB on 8-17-05. I had ordered an 06 but the dealer kept saying it would take over 2 months for me to see it. 2 days later, they dealer traded in 2 xB's, mine and a camo. Anyway, the camo didn't have a HU at all, mine had the single disk, but they ordered the iPod HU for me, and it's goin in today. I was pretty much ticked at not gettin an 06. By the way, your tC's rock. I'm trying to convince my dad into an xB and my mom into a tC.

Dude just tell them you won't drive it off the lot until that sticker comes off. And then demand that the HU is changed too.

i've been told by multiple dealers when i was shopping that they receive them without the head units so that a person can upgrade when purchasing. when i bought mine it didnt have a head unit so i got it installed the next day. Never take delivery until you're satisfied and if you can do it during the day so you can see any imperfections.

well TN is within the south east toyota group... the majority of those dealers get stuff put in at port. not the dealership. also, if they sell the car, FSCK em. go to another dealer. its worth waiting for what you want when you are going to be paying mad cash for it.

i told my dealer i wanted my FM with the ipod unit and they said it could take up to 3 months. well about a week before my first payment was scheduled to be due, i had my car. remember, YOU ARE THE CUSTOMER... MAKE THE DEAKER WORK FOR YOU. ITS WHAT HES PAID TO DO. if he doesnt want to work with, there is another one that will.

yeah but dont outright show to them. tell them whats wrong first... and if they give you any crap... then break out the pic. just to make them feel stupid. im a cruel SOB and believe that no matter what you are selling, you should know your product or try you damdest to get the right answer when you are asked a question.

but that just comes from a few years as a manager at a retail store. im obbsessive compulsive about my work.

Think the sound system in the 06 is same as the 05. Could be that "davedave" did not adjust the HU properly. Sounds better under the xA setting than the other two.

Yes, the volume **** is the biggest difference and the volume controls are also on steering wheel.

Other than that, no difference.

Reading your original post it is unclear if you even confronted the guy about the HU. I would play it nice at first, maybe he didn't realize it (doubtful) or maybe he is just trying to pull a fast one. Be nice at first : "hey I noticed that you put an 05 HU in there. You are going to put in the 06 for me right?"

If things get ugly , I would pull out the picture, or most of the dealers have the scion website that have pictures of all this stuff. If the sales person is playing ignorant with you then that is awful. Ask to speak to the manager. Also if you were going to get mods at this dealer then threaten to cancel them and have them done elsewhere (another dealer). If it gets uglier bring your cell phone and scion customer service # with you and dial it in front of the guy and let him squirm.

These cars may be hot, but that is no excuse for them trying to pawn off an older piece of equipment on a new car. However it could be an "innocent" mistake. Good luck
