TB upgrade should only happen if you already have the basic i/h/e upgrades, and then it's only worth about 1-3 hp matty-tC 08-26-2005, 04:37 PM upgrading the parts of the car that "breathe" should start at the most restrictive (head/intake/header) and go to the least restrictive. i don't believe the throttlebody is very restrictive at all. i'm still dying to get an intake manifold made so i can bolt that sucker on though ;( bluenjsciontc 08-26-2005, 04:39 PM ok thanks for the answers guys lol im debating on what to buy im shopping around for headers right now and im also looking into a rear sway bar which doesnt look to be to hard to install so im pretty capable of doing both installs, i need suggestions on headers im not looking for loudness and i was looking into going alphawerks/evo2 but everyone says dont because it sounds like crap, so now i dont know what to do for a setup, im looking for show quality headers thats all i know, SUGGESTIONS!?!? and links to pics!? matty-tC 08-26-2005, 04:45 PM alphawerks + custom exhaust or a full exhaust from one of the shops that posts on the boards -Keith- 08-26-2005, 04:47 PM Honestly go to a local muffler shop get a price quote for a full exahaust s-pipe all the way back... You will be surprised on the price... I know I was. bluenjsciontc 08-26-2005, 05:04 PM how much we talking about a price here? i dont have a million dollars lol and i guess ill order the alphawerks header tomorrow morning and get it like overnighted to me so i can play on sunday lol matty-tC 08-26-2005, 05:07 PM get the anitfoulers too TC-N-Philly 08-26-2005, 05:11 PM Honestly go to a local muffler shop get a price quote for a full exahaust s-pipe all the way back... You will be surprised on the price... I know I was. not the best idea unless you know what you are getting. bad .....generally when you buy an exhaust product from a reputable company you get madrel- bent-piping .......generally when you have one custom done by a shop you get press bends/crush bends which are very limiting as far as air flow...yes you save money but the only gain (depending on who is looking at it) is the sound.....you are better off with a mandrel bend exhuast than you are with press bent exhaust bluenjsciontc 08-26-2005, 05:23 PM yea i need some secksi exhaust but not some trash thats not gonna help me in the end, sigh i just ordered the alphawerks header, and then i read im gonna need to replace my o2 sensor because its gonna throw engine codes , gah i dunno where the hell imma get that from lol alphawerks says they sell them but um, they really dont? lol matty-tC 08-26-2005, 06:32 PM just make sure you're getting some 304 stainless which requires a tig and the shop isn't crush bending it. custom is the best way to go imo.... -Keith- 08-26-2005, 06:38 PM Honestly go to a local muffler shop get a price quote for a full exahaust s-pipe all the way back... I mean exhaust $550 + s-pipe $150 plus shipping $100 thats being cheap. $800 bucks.... adds up quick dont it bluenjsciontc 08-26-2005, 06:44 PM sad thing is i still dont know exhaust what exhaust to go with, imma do something aftermarket i just dont know what, and 800 bucks is nothing i could do that right now, but i bought the alphawerks header and made a car payment instead lol Serialk1llr 08-31-2005, 07:05 PM won't you want a high-flow cat-converter in that mix as well? matty-tC 08-31-2005, 07:14 PM if you want to pass smog Souljah347 08-31-2005, 08:27 PM yea i need some secksi exhaust but not some trash thats not gonna help me in the end, sigh i just ordered the alphawerks header, and then i read im gonna need to replace my o2 sensor because its gonna throw engine codes , gah i dunno where the hell imma get that from lol alphawerks says they sell them but um, they really dont? lol you'll need an o2 sim not a sensor. or you could buy antifoulers matty-tC 08-31-2005, 08:29 PM antifoulers are very cheap and work well. get them. XD40tC 09-01-2005, 02:43 AM Id definitely do the antifouler first to see if that works. I did it today but only used one of the two that came in the pack and it worked great. I just didnt drill the entire hole to 1/2'' because it was freakin hard and my drill was dying so I just grinded the sides a bit until the sensor fit all the way through smoothly and I havent gotten a CEL yet. I think it worked! Joe_Dezod 09-01-2005, 06:34 AM Well back to the TB topic... The air flow would be nice but I'd love to have a non-motorized TB, or a reflash for faster response. Anyone else notice how much of an angle the plate sits at when fully closed? My honda was almost flat, this one sits at about 10* when closed. It's still almost sealed because of the irregular plate shape, but I never saw something like that before. matty-tC 09-01-2005, 12:56 PM got pics joe? Joe_Dezod 09-01-2005, 03:57 PM Ok ok lol... I'll go downstairs to the car and snap some, it's still in pieces anyway hahaha... matty-tC 09-01-2005, 04:01 PM lol sorry to make you get up. maybe you should setup a webcam and charge access? lol Joe_Dezod 09-01-2005, 04:22 PM As requested, here's some pics of the TB. Notice the plate sitting a nice aggressive angle? http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/8/web/704000-704999/704420_173_full.jpg http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/8/web/704000-704999/704420_174_full.jpg http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/8/web/704000-704999/704420_175_full.jpg http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/8/web/704000-704999/704420_176_full.jpg BTW.... You're welcome matt! matty-tC 09-01-2005, 04:45 PM thanks brotha! yeah that is weird the butterfly sits like that... i wonder if there is a good reason for that (i'd imagine so i just can't think of one) |
