View Full Version : There's these rubber body plugs in my glove box...
AKgoalie7 03-23-2004, 12:58 AM I checked my Scion 2004 pre-delivery service sheet.. under section e, it says 02 Install rubber body plugs...
Is it important that they do this since they obviously didn't???
lavabox 03-23-2004, 01:22 AM good question, I got 'em too. In a little bag...
MrSmiley 03-23-2004, 01:28 AM yes ... the dealer should have done it when they pdi'd the car ... It's not a tragedy but it should be done
JDMbB 03-23-2004, 01:29 AM i have them to. i left them in my glove box but have no idea what to do with them. anyone?
bB384 03-25-2004, 09:03 AM If you want...Peek under your car in front of the rear wheels (behind where you have to put the jack for the rear) and you will see an oval shaped hole for the plug. One on each side.
hahajoey 03-25-2004, 09:26 AM so whats the purpose of the plugs? what are those holes for?
House_Of_Steel 03-25-2004, 09:59 AM I might be wrong on this ? Under the hood, actually on the hood when you open it, there are 2 round holes, would these plugs fit those holes ?
hotlanta 03-25-2004, 10:35 PM Me too. Please let me know when you know.
.
Dylan 03-26-2004, 02:17 PM Yes, let us know where they are supposed to go (not where they could go).
dickpeter 03-26-2004, 02:53 PM E02 Install rubber body plugs
Install the rubber plugs (stored in glove box) into rear torque box holes.

Not sure what E02 means, but thanks for the info. Could you explain where these rear torque box holes are and how to find them?
Thanks,
Dylan
Piston 03-26-2004, 03:12 PM Hey I didn't get any rubber plugs, This isn't fair, did I get ripped of or something. I want what everyone else is getting. :(
Oh well, I guess they are just plugs I probably never would have used them. Plus with those sitting in the glove box, thatwould have just been extra dead weight I dont need in my car.
Jason
dickpeter 03-26-2004, 04:48 PM E02 is the section number from the check list
Carolina_Guy 03-29-2004, 06:28 PM I've got the plugs from my glove box too. My dealer said they installed another set of plugs prepping the car, and the glove box pair are just spares. I'll peek underneath and make sure they are there. You definitely want to make sure your plugs are in the torque box (unibody chasssis members) holes, to keep dirt, water, road salt, etc. from accumulating inside the torque box members and possibly leading to future corrosion.
hotlanta 03-29-2004, 10:01 PM Sorry for being challenged...but where is it? Where do I look in the rear?
BlueScionXB 05-27-2004, 02:32 PM I thought I knew where it was, but I was wrong...so...where exactly do we put these things and/or where is the torque box located???
Check this out :D :D :D

its_ikon 05-27-2004, 07:29 PM i was going to put these in this weekend. i have been lagging on it. thanks a lot for the pics.
the reason the plugs aren't in when the car comes in, is because that is where the car gets jacked down on the transporter on the way to the dealership. you should have the plugs in so water and dirt don't get it there.

Might even make it even MORE aerodynamic! ZZZZZzzzzoooooooom!
Or, just prevent corrosion.
Fujiz_xb 01-03-2005, 02:25 PM hmm..i have to follow up on this
Simplyscion 01-03-2005, 02:39 PM The plugs are pointless cause water can still get in there and if you put them in then there is obviously no way for the water to get out now. The best use for them is to hold them sideways with the hole facing up and throw them at the closest person
We have body plug wars in the back of the prep shop with them...pretty funny actually 8)
Fujiz_xb 01-03-2005, 03:02 PM yeah but still..the less crap that goes in the better.
