View Full Version : my Blitz exhaust + Megan Header picts and video...
dieselstation 08-28-2005, 02:50 AM i'm sooo dissappointed. the Blitz exhaust is loud as hell.. the megan header is raspy even WITH a high flow Magnaflow resonator.. and i swear i'm gonna get a ticket. i added the Blitz silencer and now it's even raspier! bluahhhh.. i guess time to go with a normal exhaust.. maybe Injen?
1. Megan Racing Header new style
2. Magnaflow high flow resonator
3. Blitz Nur Spec universal exhaust.

tekmunny 08-28-2005, 03:04 AM ouch...angry bees make baby jesus cry. =(
well...at least it looks pretty.
dieselstation 08-28-2005, 03:06 AM yeah.. this is so bad. the exhaust is WAYYY too loud. i shoulda known it was gonna be loud as hell.. bluahhhh
Whocares05050 08-28-2005, 03:23 AM 1) Thanks for the vid/sound and pics
2) that has got to be the most horrific sound i have heard yet and i can almost garuntee you will get pulled over.
* Whatever you do keep us posted and if you can atleast do a dyno pull to see if any gains were achieved
- also, do you feel any difference?
dieselstation 08-28-2005, 04:22 AM i DO feel a huge difference.. but my only concern is..
WILL THE RASPINESS GO AWAY???
Magnus213 08-28-2005, 04:46 AM Whoa.
That is an incredible sound- maybe not incredible in a great way, but it sounds different from anything else I've ever heard. I'd describe it as 'intense.'
I don't think it sounds as bad as everyone's making it out to be, at least not on that clip.

Any axleback available at the moment will sound raspy with a header. Manufacturers have decided to ignore that fact and simply make axlebacks that sound good with stock cars. When one manufacturer finally listens to customer feedback and design a catback or axleback that sounds good with a header youll know about it. In the meantime no Catback or axle will sound good including the Injen, trust me i know i sold mine when i tried them with the alphawerk header. Im hoping the Megan unit sounds decent.
05-RS1 08-28-2005, 05:09 AM ur header used to be chrome right? ii have the stainless steel AW header but not installed yet. i was wondering if theres any way to prevent it from turning bronze..
reagulator 08-28-2005, 07:29 AM chrome usually turns blue and stainless turns golden. No way to avoid it unless you ceramic coat it. Be sure to wipe it down b4 you start the car for the first time
eujin 08-28-2005, 07:39 AM try adding another resonator to it. its not uncommon some cat-back systems have two resonators, my 5Zigen Fireball on my Prelude had two, and it sounded niiiice
kungpaosamuraiii 08-28-2005, 07:40 AM Is your secondary cat still there? The cat is a good muffler.

why get a cat and lose power. get a good resonator instead
superbill 08-28-2005, 12:16 PM yeah that sounds like a angry hornets nest for sure..how bout you try a different muffler ? ,borla or magnaflow might help.
DTRUONG_112 08-28-2005, 02:31 PM Nice looking setup though.

i do have a resonator.. it's a high flow Magnaflow resonator right after the cat. :(
rhythmnsmoke 08-29-2005, 03:28 PM Supposedly, when you install a header, it has a break-in point. After that break-in, the rasp should go away. I'm not sure if all of the headers do it, but I've heard of them breaking-in and then no more rasp. If the Blitz exhaust is to loud for you, then how much are parting it for? I'm wanting to go with the Blitz exhaust, so wouldn't mind taking it off your hands.

PM sent. i'm now back to my stock muffler.
ScionTCizzle 08-29-2005, 04:04 PM holy crap man. how our car can sound like that is beyond me. That is honestly a sound that i have never heard before. I think im going to just going to stay away from headers because i would not be able to drive around in a car that sounded like that.
ouch...angry bees make baby jesus cry.
LOL..tooo funny
Nice try with the exhaust, though. One day...one of us...will come up with the right combo
rhythmnsmoke 09-07-2005, 11:35 PM I want to thank you for parting away with the Blitz exhaust. Just got it in today, and it looks good. I appreciate the easy transaction. Thanks D.

Whats the word with the stock muffler...much better or still some rspiness?
LucidBD 09-08-2005, 03:21 AM 1st off. why dont you stick the video camera farther down the can! lol its like a inside look at the can.
back off a little. your putting the mic right up on the thing. i felt like i was getting blasted by exhaust fumes.
mrdolla 09-08-2005, 05:06 AM Dont feel bad. I have alphawerks headers and a greddy exhaust.......sounds worse lol. Thinking about switching exhaust brands and see what happens

it's louder then stock but MUCH MUCH MUCH less raspy.. however, i can hear some a tiny bit of rasp if i'm going WOT in 1st or 2nd gear. but intake + megan header + stock exhuast = livable. i'm still on the search for an exhaust that works with the megan and NOT too loud.
mrdolla 09-08-2005, 06:26 AM I, gonna try the Megan exhaust.wish me luck
dubledee 09-08-2005, 06:42 AM that megan looks good but how hard is the install for the header? did u also replace the S pipe? how loud is the combo? good to hear no raspy. hopefully this can help my friend in choosing a header
AntwonePeterson 09-08-2005, 06:51 AM I already have it and it is loud and deep. I wonder what it will sound like with the Megan header.
dubledee 09-08-2005, 07:06 AM I, gonna try the Megan exhaust.wish me luckdont worry. it doesnt sound raspy at all. very nice tone :)
rhythmnsmoke 09-08-2005, 02:10 PM I think the simple fact of adding a header will yeild raspy results no matter what exhaust you have (except stock maybe). Since I'm going turbo, I not even going that route, so it's all good.
uritec 09-11-2005, 03:37 AM To my opinion Blitz muffler too harsh and have low pinch sound replace it with magnaflow 5'' or 6'' and your car will be much quieter and smoother.
Check the sound clip of deferent exhausts and compare.

I have Megan racing header last design.
I build cat back my self 2.25’’ tubing magnaflow catalytic converter 4’’-14’’ long resonator and 6’’ – 14’’ long muffler plus S”S tip.
The configuration the same as ZPI exhaust but much quieter.
I still have some little rasp between 2000-3000rpm.
I will post pix and sound clip later.

how big of a resonator did you have on the blitz setup?
Acsilva84 09-19-2005, 05:36 PM ..... and how well did it work for the system with out the headers?
NEROAZUL 09-19-2005, 05:50 PM Ive heard the DC sports exhaust and it dident sound that loud. I would probably go with them.

i had the longest Magnaflow resonator i could fit on there. and i installed header the same time i installed teh blitz.. so i have no idea how it sounds without the header.
