I just bought a 06 xA. I wanted the side/curtain air bags. The dealer says he had never seen a xA with them (although he had seen a few tC's with them). Fortuantly, he checked his incoming inventory, and there was one on the list with them. It took a few days for him to get the complete VIN so I could buy it, and a few more days for me to get it, but all and all not too bad a wait, and I love the car so far. I'm just curious how rare the side/curtain air bags actually are-does anybody else here have an xA with them (any year)?

 

'05 Polar White. Had a wait of over seven weeks to get airbags/auto. But there was a black xA on the lot with air bags. My only complaint is that I have not found seat covers which would not interfer with the air bags. I like to keep the seat of the driver covered as he tents to spill things.

 

I'm just starting my search for an xA (still debating over which car, but the xA is winning right now!) but I really want side airbags.

I think, and so do some friends, that on such a small car, the extra safety features are very important. Not that I'm planning on wrecking my car, but if it happens I want to know that I'll have a little more safety.

I know they're an option, and I've seen them advertised, but I've yet to find one with them in my area so far.

 

I have them in mine. With a car so small and light it seems foolish not to have them. I had to wait about a month for my car. My rear spoiler caused me more problems than anything. At the time the dealer could not get one quickly and when it did show it was damaged in shipping. Not a big deal to me now, I'm just having fun driving the car.

 

My co-worker has an 05 xA with the side airbags, but she did have to wait I think over a month to get hers. Actually the side airbags was one of the big deciding factors for her in getting the xA. I bought what was on the lot and my xA does not have them.

 

Got 'em in mine. They had 1 xA at the dealership. It was an RS2 with side airbags. I wasn't even really looking to buy an xA (I went there looking for tCs) but for the price, the color, the LEDs and the curatin airbags, I couldn't pass it up.

Guess they aren't THAT rare, although it sounds like almost everybody had to wait for them. Cool.

 

I didnt have to wait at all. A good dealer can find the car you want. It just takes a bit of effort on their part. Mine found the one I wanted the next day, at the dealership in 2 days.
