Hi guys, i've pretty much decided to trade in my echo and get a new 06' xB and put my wheels and Tanabe df210's off my echo onto it. Only this i can't decide is which color to get :(.
On my cardomain page in my sig u can see the wheels i have on my echo. Out of the 6 colors i definitely want to get either PW or BOP. Only thing that's really making me want BOP is because blue is my fav color, and PW would show that's its dirtier and i'd have to wash it more IMO because of where i live. On the end of my street the road like goes down and then intersects with the main road that is higher than my street. Being that it always drains and there's no city water or sewers, there is almost always a 10ft long puddle about 1-2" deep there and i have to drive through it to get to my house... (i can drive the other way but i have to watch out for about 10~ 6" deep pot holes, death to rims and body.
I'm just wondering though, i know that PW would look sweet with bronze, but i think BOP would too. What do you all think?

I don't know how the PW is with showing dirt, but I can tell you that BOP is awful. Every time it rains my car is covered with residue, becaus ethe moisture just sits there on the roof, hood, and bumpers and just dries, leaving all the pollution behind on the car. And it's light in color, so it shows up really easily on the dark paint.
My Mazda is a fairly dark color too, but doesn't exhibit this tendency to show dirt.
With this particular dirt, PW would actually hide it better. And Thundercloud would be best.

hmmm nice to know. My family thinks the general "your going to regret getting white, it'll be dirty all the time", and they always tell that back in the day white cars were always cheaper, so white looks cheap. I really like both colors though. Too many decisions > <

These days I think you're more likely to hear "buy a white car, they're statistically less likely to be in an accident."

I have a PW and I think it just starts to look more of an off white when I don't wash it as often. The darker colors do tend to show dirt more imo. But darker colors also shine allot better when you polish and wax them. PW just looks clean no mater how much polish and wax is used. If I could have done it over again I would have gone with a BCP. That the best shine I've seen but probably needs to be washed often. I know that's not one of the colors your considering, but that's just me.

i just think the white looks so clean and i picture it at the beach on a sunny florida day ^_^ (just noticed u live in St. Pete, i used to live in Tampa for the last 17yrs till i moved to this BFE town last month :(, were u the guy with the bags @ the sonic SD meets?)
but blue looks good too. I don't mind washing my car, especially if it's brand new and as 'clean' looking as a polar white xB is IMO. the polar defintiely suits the color's name 8-)

Wasn't me, I wish. Plan on doing bags later though....But I went with PW just cause it's a clean color, and it was the only one they had in a MT at the time lol.. Just wish it had a better shine to it.

i just think the white w/ bronze wheels will look cool. I want to get bags too, just so it's low when parked and i can go over speed bumps when driving (and through water when it floods > <)
i think blue w/ bronze would look good, but maybe people will say it's Suburu copy :(

Deep water is one of the reasons I want bags too. But Blue and Bronze would look awesome. I wouldn't worry bout it being compared to the scooby. But the funny thing is I just saw a white STI w/ bronze wheels 2 days ago.

Because they're easier to see, and therefore to avoid, or so the legend goes. I was told this by a lawyer friend, and I've seen it repeated elsewhere. No idea if there's any statistical validity.

i would reckon that these days it has to do with the fact that there are less white cars on the road than previous years.
oh, and yes white looks great with bronze wheels: http://www.trdparts.jp/image/bb-1.jpg

I voted PW but I am kinda fond of Polar White for obvious reasons.. I like the look of the PW on a nice set of colored rims, and the white can look kind of dull on a cloudy day, but on a sunny day I love the look of my box when shes all cleaned up.

dang i have less of an idea of what color i want now, then before i made this post lol!
I've seen a few white/bronze xB's online, have yet to come across a blue/bronze combo. Maybe i'll be one of the few eh? (if i get blue).
What i will do is probably found out which color the dealer could get sooner, or that's more available, and get that. Either way i'll still love it, a box is a box.
If i get white, i'm gonna dress up the engine bay with some white paint or vinyl, and vinyl some interior accents white. Probably white neons under and inside. Blue i would probably paint the engine cover gold, gold neon under, maybe blue inside. i don't know > <
I'll probably end up with BOP though i can bet already.
The Meguirs stuff sounds good. I need to learn about washing & waxing. All i've done on my echo is used walmart soap and mix with water, wet, towel with soap, wet, dry, gets dirty next day, wash it in 2 weeks lol!
Seriously though, i don't even know where to start with general washing and waxing there's so much stuff to buy out there. Can anyone point me in the right direction? thx
Gotta go with the BOP, good stuff all the way around with it. :D

I know this is a bit off topic, but Zaino Brothers have some good products that'll shine up a white vehicle nicely. Go to http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc.
Using a clay bar every so often and then re-waxing, polishing and sealing the paint should create a very nice shine, even on white.
Plus, white doesn't necessarily leave the swirl marks on paint from improper washing/ drying techniques.
Personally, I love the blue in full sun - it's gorgeous! But so's BCP and TCM. I have a while yet myself before I have to decide, but I'm leaning toward TCM for the longevity between washes (if I have to wait more than a week) and forgiveness in repairing paint chips. My car today is a light blue that has stone chips that have been really tough to repair properly. From a distance, my car looks great. Up close, it looks like it has acne.
