Default Need Honest Opinions and advice from owners

Im thinking of buying a Scion Xb, like many of you. actually to be honest ive been thinking about buying one for a while with the gas price increases and such. i currently drive a 1997 ext cab chevy silverado. it eats gas like you wouldnt believe the end on that subject. im looking at a 2004 Xb produced in '03 it has a non stock stereo, nothing awesome, a few itty bitty scratches its manual and has 37,000 miles on the odo.
they want $15,999 but they haven't advertised it which will lower not to mention buying almost 2 previous cars at that dealership not to mention the truck as a trade in. in your alls opinion how low do you think i could get it reasonably. KBB suggests $14,205 to keep in mind and MSRP for a new after fees is like 15,600 or something i cant remember at this hour.
thanks for your time all.

For what they're asking used, you could have a new one, with a couple of accessories on it!

the idea is possibly haggling down and getting the price down, my brother says it would be worth it if they would lower it to $13,000 he thinks its possible too seeing as he works for toyota i would hope he knows something.
anyone in california know how much a new Black sand pearl manual will cost new after all fees bone stock?

IMO you should wait and order a new box.Get the basics and add the options as you go.I think you will find that the dealer won't use the KBB.You are far better off trying to sell your truck your self. You will more than likely save several thousand dollars in the long run.

No kidding. We got a brand-spankin-new RS2 for $16,400. Regular stock xBs are a good bit less. They are hoping someone walks in a buys that without doing any homework.

Used is almost ALWAYS more expensive than NEW.

Check out this used '05 xB for sale locally. $17K+ for a bone stock manual xB with miles on it!:

Click here to see the complete ad with pics.

Buy a new one. Sure, it's a few thousand more than the price you're looking at, but it's worth it. Sell your truck yourself. A dealer will NOT give you what it's worth!

Hey Bill. We've met already. I'm the guy that stopped by your house that day.....I live in McSherrystown. We got my xA from Hanover Toyota and the xB from Rockville, MD. Are you still planning to sell your RS1?

Exactly! I'd buy it new. Forget used. If you were talking about a fancy 50-80k car, and the difference was 20k or more, maybe think about it then. But, we're talking a difference of only a couple thousand if that.

If you do end up buying it used, look at all the welding marks, the nuts and bolts for tool marks that way you can tell what has been worked on. But, seriously, you'll be way better off buying it new.

I am losing my mind ............. Sorry Matt !

I was looking at the one that Champion has on their lot, they are a shady sales folks working there ..... They gavfe me 3 different prices on it ...... Their bottom line is 12,900.00 and I know they paid less for it .... It has been sitting for 90+ Days and I offered them a little less than 12,000 and they said no ..... Oh Well !

How are things going ? Good I hope ......... I had the XB at the York Show and ended up finishing 3rd overall in Scion Class, which is not bad considering some tough cars there ......

hehe...no problem. Is that the silver xB at Champion? If it is, that's been there quite a while. We looked at it back in June, but Michele had her heart set on Solar Yellow. As I recall, they were "asking" almost enough to buy a new one back then. Will this be a daily driver for you, or another project car?

Lunar, I'd hold out for an '06 unless you can get a used xB
way cheap.

But as stated above, too many dealerships are actually
asking MORE for a used one then new one! WTF!

Also consider warranty, They may warranty it for 1 yr/12K if you are lucky!!! It is already past 3yr/36K factory warranty at this point.

Run!

Get a new '06. Price difference will be negligible and you're saving 37k miles.

Dealers depend on the emotion that you "have to have it now". Don't get caught up in a moment that you may regret later. It could be a good deal but unless you are willing to walk away from it you are overinvolved. I've found that the more they push, talk and are emphatic that this is the only one on the planet you will be able to get "today" the more desparate they are to have you buy it. The best way to buy any automobile is to know what you want and be willing to wait for it. What difference does it make to hold on for a couple of weeks for something that you are going to be paying for for 5 (or more) years?
