Click on the Toyota Booth Special Site and look at the "NLSV" concept. Toyota has said repeatedly that there won't be a redesign of the xB, but that a different vehicle will replace it. I'm betting that the production version of the NLSV is the replacement for the xB, maybe 3 years from now in the US, although Japan intro for the NLSV is probably within 2 years from now. The NLSV is taller, but other dimensions are almost identical to the xB's.

I wonder what will happen if Toyota decides that the US Scion line and the economy-driven JDM Toyota line can't progress the same in the future? Should be interesting.

the glass roof is awesome.
Glass roofs are awesome until you take them out of the exhibit hall. Then they are solar collectors!
Back in the '60s, many concept cars sported transparent canopies, but none made it to production for the same reason.

Where does it say NLSV is a concept to replace Xb? I understand the speculation... And I do like the concept car. It's just that if it's going to continue the heritage (dare I say) of Xb, I wish it will continue the Boxy-ness that made Xbs so unique...

Toyota doesn't say that the NLSV will replace the xB - that's just my speculation. I think Scion will always have something unusual and the NLSV qualifies. As I mentioned earlier, it's almost the same dimensions as the xB. I can see Scion positioning the NLSV as a vehicle for active people just like the Element.

the nlsv concept strays too far off the bB persona to make it as the replacement. If produced, it's gotta be its own new car in the lineup
I have a feeling that when they stop producing the xB the NLSV Concept will be the new xB. They look too much alike not to be.. But who knows what Scion has up their sleeve  . I cant wait until they release official information about the new Scion's in a few years! :!:

Hmmm. If you ask me, a car like that would be more of a contender to replace the xA than the xB. Despite a similar shape to the xB, the curves in the design and the size of the vehicle make me think of the xA. An inexpensive but roomy 3 door hatchback (13k range) could supplement the Scion line and would be a nice alternative to the much more expensive VW and upcoming BMW and Mercedes three door hatches; no good economy three door hatches (excluding the Si- which is still sort of up there in price) really exist in the value end of the compact segment. Maybe they will have two and four door versions of the more affordable Scion model in the future. I really have a feeling we will be seeing something like the NLSV over here within the next couple of years. Thanks for the link.

I don't think it's much of a replacement for the xB either, but definitely would be for the xA. Last I heard, BMW announcd that they were not going to release the 1 Series in the U.S. though. Kinda doubt Mercedes will either. I'm looking forward to Scion having more than 3 models...
