Someone tagged on my RS 2.0!
well i got home today from work and someone tagged on the rear of my Rs 2.0! I was so furious! I think it was some punk @$$ kids at the high school where i did a delivery today. well what i wanted to know is if anyone knows what would get the marker off? i dont know if its a sharpie or what but i wet just a little part of it and rubbed and it seemed to come off. I know for a fact i will not be paying for anything, either my work or the school will have to pay if i cant get it off. but if anyone knows how to get it off let me know asap. i will be taking a pic of it too if anyone will wanna see it.
same thang happen 2 me bro...i got a RS2 also...they use sum washable marker on my ride...so i just washed my car n it wiped right off...i still havent found out who did it 2 my box...all i gotta say there lucky i didnt catch em...i kno how u feel...F$#% them HATERS!!
I've used Easy Off Oven Cleaner a few times to remove pinstripes and the like..... It should work on marker also. I use a Q-Tip, rub a little on the line, wait about 30 seconds & it wipes right off. I've never had it damage paint before, but you might want to test it on an out of the way place first, haven't used it on my xB yet!!
A body shop clued me in to this trick........

it just looks like someone tagged their name on my xB. why there gotta be haters? its str8 up stupid. i think i will call some detail shops and see what they tell me. i was thinking about just buying the goof off for graffiti but i think ill have the school pay 4 it, or hell even get the school to pay for a full detail huh (thanks for the tip, i forgot who posted it). i will find out tomorow when i go into work. i left it on my xB for now until i can get a pic and show my boss to see what he wants me to do.
OK, I'm somewhat of a graffiti expert.
There are a few things to take into account here. First off, how thick was the marker used? Is the mark done in regular ink or translucent paint marker? Did the ink drip?
If the tag isn't super thick and/or drippy there's a good chance you can get it off with some mineral spirits. Paint markers should also be easy easy to remove. It's the thick, drippy inks you'll want to worry about. Graffiti writers have spent 30 years looking for the most permanent, nasty inks.
However, people that would tag a car probably weren't serious writers, as hitting people's cars, houses, and small businesses is considered unacceptable.
Recap: If it's off-the-shelf, commonly available ink you should be fine with some mineral spirits. If it's drippy, black, and not coming out you're probably dealing with some homebrew nastiness or graffiti-specific ink.

hey Max2k it isnt a drippy paint or marker, it looks like a "normal" tag you'd see in a restroom somewhere. know what i mean? I'm thinking it may be a sharpie or it looked like it had a little wider tip, not sure though didnt wanna look at it too long.
I'd just hit it with some rubbing alcohol to start.
Real writers know that if you want it to be permanent, you've got to add a few fun things like brake fluid, metal discolorant, and etching acid.

A dry erase marker may help. If you write on a dry erase board with a permanent marker you can break the surface tension by writing over the top of it with the dry erase marker. The dry erase marker will not hurt the paint....
A little OT, but why should the school be liable? If someone hits your car when it's parked on the road, does the city pay for it? If you get damage in a Wal-Mart parking lot by some customer, does Wal-Mart pay the bill? The school doesn't have to give you nothing, if they did, they're just being nice.
