Default I think I need help..

I took delivery of my 2006 TCM xB on 08/17/05. The first weekend I had it, I gave it a good bath, liquid wax, and rain-x'd the windows. I've taken it back for some warranty work and had the dealership wash it, it rained 5 minutes after I left, so I washed it again the next weekend.

I've only driven it in the rain once and most of the rain beaded off thanks to driving on the interstate.

Everytime it rains and its sitting at home in the car port, I go outside and wipe it down to remove any water spots. It just got done raining and I want to go outside and check on da box but I think I have a serious issue about this car.

Thankfully the only mods I've done is the OEM armrest and just had tint put in it yesterday. I also ordered my personalized plate yesterday but I don't think it counts.

When can someone get way to crazy about there car, ever? Do I have a problem that I need to address? I've already heard, you spend more time on your car then you do me from my partner.

I should mention I'm 25 and this is my first ever brand new car. I started in a 96 Civic Hatch that I modified, 98 Hatch my mom totalled, and a 00 Corolla that was totalled in a wreck.

I LOVE MY XB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The real test is to have some kids. If you STILL would rather wax the box than make faces at your new born, then you need a shrink.

Hopefully you are washing the car, and not just wiping the rain off. You are really going to screw up your paint and have spiderwebbing in no time. Be sure to use a quality microfiber or 100% cotton towel also.

I thought rain was one of the purest forms of water in the world. I always use microfiber or 100% cotton. What is it that would cause spiderwebbing? So the only real way to keep a car from having water spots is to wash it, using a good quality cloth to take up a few water spots is bad for the paint?

I forgot to mention that I use a California Duster on the paint almost daily.

OH btw, children are totally not planned so I dunno where my "shrink" level should be set.

not sure about Fla, but in Missouri, you let the car dry after it rains on it and those aren't water spots, they are mud puddles. There is a LOT of dirt in the rain around here because of dusty conditions.

Even if you are just wiping it down after a rain, I would AT LEAST rinse it with a hose... if not go ahead and do a quick wash to remove any dirt, rather than grind it in the paint.

Ya know what.... your right..

I never thought about it like that, the drops I'm seeing are probably any/all the dust that would have been on the car.

Thats one habit I will stop doing immediately.

Yeah, im paranoid about spots on my car. I wash it atleast once a week, and quick wax it to dry it. Buff it really nice, then hand wax it. to get the water spots out. ( i just use the spray wax to dry the car, works really well compared to a chamois, plus, the only cloth touching my car is microfiber, everything from the wash sponge, to the drying cloths, to the applicator pads and the cloth i use to remove the wax)

yeap, took delivery on one of the first '06s on the dealer's lot 4 weeks ago and been known to check on the paint (once 2am in the morning) and will 'wipe them out' any spots seen or won't be able to sleep that night. it's only a box, but I am having trouble "thinking out side of the box." I am my box's 24/7 maid plus bBsitter and it's one bad spoiled newborn babybBox...

You need to apply the 10 year factor to your car. In a general use application think about how the vehicle will look in 10 years. If you own your car for show quality these issues will be concerning. In this case you should always garage the vehicle and drive it on a limited basis. Face the fact that if this is your general use vehicle it is going to be used and abused by the elements and everyone it is in close proximity too. This dosent mean you should abandon all care for the vehicle. Keeping your vehicle looking brand new and show room quality is always fun and good exercise.

I agree but I'm renting a house w/ a carport so no garage for me. I might buy a car cover for it since it will sit a week at a time while I have a rental.

I found a nick in the paint on the hood right above the passenger headlight.

I've been super ____ed all day now cause of it. First call I made was to my sales lady telling her to order me some touch up paint. Poor xB gots a ding already and she doesn't even have 600 miles yet.

Good point, i prefer to have my interior clean before my exterior, being that i can control pretty much any amount of dirtiness(word? lol) that is inside, the outside is gonna get wet, muddy (especially in my BFE ___ town with these wonderful roads), and have inconsiderate people brush up against it and lean on it while their near it (OMG i FUGGIN hate when people do that, want to lugnut wrench them in the face so bad!). Well, my car isn't brand new, and when i got it it wasn't brand new (first car), but i treated it like it was (for awhile at least), since then, the outside has gotten some more abuse, but i cheaply wash it every other week. I need to learn some more advanced washing stuff, i just use cheap walmart soap mixed with my ghetto well water, and a towel that leaves streaks on the windows and friggin lint stuff everywhere...
