Hi,

I'm thinking about getting a Scion xA and was hoping that I could eventually make it a quick little car. I was wondering if it would be possible to get it to run low 14's for the 1/4 mile? If so, how much money would it run me?

I've heard that there are some Superchargers and Turbochargers available but they don't add very much HP. Someone please set me straight if I'm wrong. Also, I would like to try to avoid an engine swap.

Thank you.

If you want a 14 sec car, buy a SRT-4. The stock xA runs the 1/4 in about 17.5sec with a 5spd. You can figure out exactly how much work it would take to drop 3 sec or so. Of the xBs with turbos, the fastest number I have seen, where 10.6 or so in the 1/8. So I think thats like a mid 15sec 1/4 with the gearing of these cars. To get into this power range & speed range, I would guess something like $6k worth of parts & work. Figure about $3k on the supercharger (no TC kits that I know of for a xA). Then exhaust, header, flywheel, clutch, springs, shocks, wheels, tires, spark plugs. Then gut the thing & you might get into the time frame you want. I say wheels & tires because a nice light weight wheel + fat tire. That way less rotation of mass + better traction. Good luck with what ever you decide to do.

Okay, thanks. So I guess it's just not a very practical idea. Thanks.
