Tired the Cabana wax, it didnt work..... xnevergiveinx 09-06-2005, 03:10 AM klasse all in one seems to get the marks off pretty good. if that doesn't work, rubbing compund can get pretty much any imperfection off of your paint reagulator 09-06-2005, 03:19 AM you need some polish jaydub 09-06-2005, 03:21 AM cabana wax? I think you meant carnuba wax. :D xnevergiveinx had a good suggestion with the rubbing compound, just take your time and don't rub too hard. 8) bacho 09-06-2005, 04:09 AM It looks like the paint is smeared by the bug, people on here talk all the time about how soft the paint is, my girl has an 05 and yes she has paint chips, but no smears like mine did. I think that rubbing compound wouldnt go good on the FM. I am going to the dealership tomorrow to fight a lost cause. Nate2085 09-06-2005, 04:31 AM sand paper works well. bacho 09-06-2005, 04:33 AM yea goood one!! lol Nate2085 09-06-2005, 06:16 AM naw seriously...my dad once told me to use panty hose(sp?)...but i've never tried. maybe you can and tell us how well it works. raWr215 09-06-2005, 12:11 PM what kinda bug did u hit? ack154 09-06-2005, 12:32 PM Moved to M&CC... :lalala: Lonely_Raven 09-06-2005, 01:20 PM WAX DOES NOT REMOVE DAMAGE TO PAINT! WAX IS A PROTECTIVE LAYER THAT HELPS KEEP DAMAGE FROM HAPPENING TO YOUR PAINT! OK, I'm done yelling. Maybe someday somebody will listen to me and stop saying stupid things like they used cabana wax to remove damage to paint. spyguy 09-06-2005, 03:05 PM Toyota sells bug and tar remover. It works pretty well, as long as you dont wait too long. SpdLmtNA 09-06-2005, 04:08 PM I just drove to and from Georgia & Virginia... BUG MASSACRE... so I'll let you know how it goes bacho 09-06-2005, 06:50 PM I bought the toyota protecting sealant stuff. I am going to put it on this afternoon when I get my car back from the dealer. xnevergiveinx 09-07-2005, 03:00 AM sand paper works well. YIKES! i would never take sand paper to my scion's paint. i have taken it to my 97 corolla's paint and had great results after a proper polish. scion's paint can barely handle 2500 grit sandpaper BEASTXB 09-07-2005, 03:33 AM clay bar it! Surfmobile 09-07-2005, 03:40 AM clay bar works well. Polish does also. If it'd real bad get some paint cleaner (meguire's step 1 in the 3-step process). Go to your local autozone or equivilent and check out what's out there. Nate2085 09-07-2005, 04:05 AM YIKES! i would never take sand paper to my scion's paint I wasn't serious. sorry 7thgear 09-07-2005, 04:16 AM i had this massive bug splats all over my car and massive bird droppings that i left int he hot sun for like1 week. when i decided to wash my car, it had already etch and stained my paint. i was ferious. not only was it hard to rub off, but it left an aftermark. i decided to go to autozone and grab the only bug remover spray they had. it's called "turtle..." something. yea helps a lot huh? but once i got back, i used it and NOTHING happened. boy was i ferious now??!? so i went and return it and they said that a lil wax would make that come off. i was like "whatever....". they almost didn't let me return the product. well 2 days later, i went back and checked on it, and what do you know. it disappeared like it was never there before!!! not a single evidence!!!! so try using some bug remover spray called "turtle....." Stealth97 09-07-2005, 11:44 AM Heres what I do. If the bugs are really bad, and I know that a simp;e wash wont get the bugs off, I hit the bugs with some WD-40 (it will not hurt your paint) before washing. Anything left gets rubbed out with the clay bar. You dont want to "wax" bugs off your car. Wax is only for protection, and should be the last step. You want to remove any nasties before you apply wax. bacho 09-08-2005, 05:16 AM I used the protectant sealer, and it too the bug stuff off and the ones that I have had on it since then wipe right off. I am going to try some of the turtle stuff though. Sounds like it did the job. Somnambulated 09-08-2005, 05:31 AM sand paper works well. YIKES! i would never take sand paper to my scion's paint. i have taken it to my 97 corolla's paint and had great results after a proper polish. scion's paint can barely handle 2500 grit sandpaper Believe me, I know. I acutually got to the primer on my hood while lightly sanding a patch of touch-up paint. DON"T USE sandpaper on a Scion, even 2500 grit while wet sanding! matt_a 09-08-2005, 11:21 AM Maybe someday somebody will listen to me and stop saying stupid things like they used cabana wax to remove damage to paint. I just waxed my Cabana last week. http://home.infostations.net/tony/mexico/cabana.jpg TCRS1_0 09-08-2005, 12:25 PM i had this massive bug splats all over my car and massive bird droppings that i left int he hot sun for like1 week. when i decided to wash my car, it had already etch and stained my paint. i was ferious. not only was it hard to rub off, but it left an aftermark. i decided to go to autozone and grab the only bug remover spray they had. it's called "turtle..." something. yea helps a lot huh? but once i got back, i used it and NOTHING happened. boy was i ferious now??!? so i went and return it and they said that a lil wax would make that come off. i was like "whatever....". they almost didn't let me return the product. well 2 days later, i went back and checked on it, and what do you know. it disappeared like it was never there before!!! not a single evidence!!!! so try using some bug remover spray called "turtle....." Actually I believe this to some extent . When I used to process and inspect toyotas , part of the process was to remove the plastic wrap . Sitting out in the hot florida sun the plastic wrap would cause "ripples" in the paint where the wrap was attached to the paint . We would leave the cars out in the sun for a few hours and the "ripples" would dissappear . Maybe its the paint itself that resets itself , or maybe its the imperfections burning off . But I have seen this first hand happen shanecrow99 09-11-2005, 02:45 PM naw seriously...my dad once told me to use panty hose(sp?)...but i've never tried. I don't think wearing panty hose will help with the bug removal! lol RockBlocker 09-11-2005, 03:19 PM You could use Pam Cooking Spray so the bugs dont stick to your paint. LOL.. Use a Clay Bar and keep the front waxed. Helps tremendously. Or you can use a Clear Bra which works really great for bugs |
