This may sound like a noob question, but I've never done any sort of suspension install. But to my understanding, some vehicles require you to have a compressor of some sort to remove your stock springs, so they don't shoot off at you. Is this not the case with the TC? Do the stock suspension becomes tension free once you jack it up or something. If this is the case, then I will install my Teins myself when I get them.
ok springs depends on the drop...
Tein ss-p is a complete system... so u need no stock suspension parts it replaces everything so u dont need anything there.
U mostly need a compressor to take the stock springs off not to put new ones on.

I haven't used a spring compressor on lowering any tC. Of course I went to a progressive rate spring (H&R) which are cake to install. The top hat will pop off but it's easy to put the new ones on. Springs like the Hotchkis setup do require a spring compressor because they're linear. Hope that helps.
If you're installing the TRD springs, you will absolutely need spring compressors. The rear spring must be compressed to almost closed to allow the topmount to be reinstalled on the shock.
It's about $30 for a set of MAC compressors from NAPA. A small investment, considering what you're saving by doing the install yourself.

To clear things up, to remove the stock springs off of the struts to replace with new springs, a compressor is required.
BUT...If you are getting the Tein Basic, SS, SS-P that replaces the entire suspension setup, so no compressor is required, therefore allowing you to do the installation under your own will inside your garage.
My original reason for making this thread was in reference to the coilovers, and not springs. So, this is good news to my ears in that I won't need to go to a shop and put on the coilovers, I can do them myself. Awesome!

But that still dosen't require a compressor to remove the hat does it?
