ok so i know fiberglass looks freakin sweet... but i heard it sounds worse than a sealed box. Ive got 3 10" JL w6v2's and they r in a sealed box and was thinkin about upgradin to a fiberglass box but if it sounds alot worse and since i dont enter my car in shows... im really torn whether i should put 2000 into a box that has no real function except looking cool... your input would be great.

i wouldnt bother with a fiberglass box. they can sound bad....if they are not built right. but the only point of a fg box is looks and to conform into certain parts of the car. doesnt sounld like you really need one.

yea i wasted $600 on a custom fiberglass enclosure for my xB and wow did that thing rattle like hell. it sounded like there were loose plastic spoons jumping around in the back. not cool. i replaced it with an mdf box and that sounds great. just make sure the mdf is at least 3/4" thick

If your fiberglass box doesn't sound right then it wasn't done right. It shouldn't "rattle like hell" I would have taken to the person that did it and asked them to fix it.

Fiberglass is just another material to make a box out of.
If it's made right, it sounds awesome.
Look at every JL/Alpine built show car...They aren't going to fiberglass something if it makes it sound bad.
Bad sound is because of an installer, not because of fiberglass. If you want it to look as good as it sounds, by all means, get it glassed by someone that does good work. If you're happy with it now, leave it.
What kind of shows do you enter? Sound competitions or car shows?

and just for the record, most fiberglass boxes ARE sealed.
like mandos said fiberglass is not a different style of box, just a different material.
