me and my cousin both own 05 xA's I've had mine for three months and he's ahd his for about five or six. But today I notcied when I was admiring my Gen2 axleback (thank you again stylis) that my car kinda is g"gimped" to the left, not like OMG WTF gimped but, like maybe 1/2-3/4 at the most inches gimped to the left. I have Tein S-Techs with the stock shocks/sturts, and it so happens my cousin rocks it taht way too. So I call him up and ask him, he checks out his car and whaddya know? He's slightly gimped as well. What could be causing this? Could this be the springs themselves or what? We've also came up with some theories. 1) 3/4 of the time we are the only ones in the car...because we're sad sad men and it seems half of our life is spent on the road driving to and from work...so could it be that since 3/4 of the time we are alone in the car, that our weight and time spent in the car has settled the springs to its er...normal settle-ness-ness, and since that weight and time hasnt really been placed on the right the springs arent really settled? 2) the most simpliest one of all. the xA's tanks are on the left side, we're both on full tanks, since our cars are small, the extra weight from the full fuel tank is causing the car it to gimp to the left a tad. What do you think? has anybody else noticed this? If its the springs then that sucks, cause I dont like _____ing to customer service. And just to inform you readers, I installed the springs myself, but I had help from my g/fs uncle who is a mechanic, so it couldnt be from improper installation.

could also be that the roads are not level and run off to the right, and with you and the tank being on the left there is more pressure on that side.... lol, i dunno im pulling it outta my arse. I'm guessing 1 or 2

I have an xB and I noticed the same thing. the first time I noticed it was at the dealership where I bought the car and a tech was with me. he said he noticed it too and had no explanation for it. My mustang did the same thing and I take as me being the only one in the car most of the time. I gave up on it and hardly notice it now. I don't know if it still is lower on the drivers side or not. It still rides ok though.

well, I just got back from some experimentation. Basically I swapped out my rear springs, left goes right, right goes left...thinking that if it has to do with settlement than swapping it would most likely make it so that the more settled left being transfered to the right would...well you get the picture. Anyway tried it out and it's still a tad bit gimped still! But slipknot does have a point though, after doing the swap, I went to take it out for a drive just to see if my suspension was alright and that there werent any problems, and I paid attention to other cars, and it seems that alot of cars lean a bit to the left! it's kinda weird...I dont know if my eyes are going crazy or what but it seems that alot of lowered cars or lifted trucks gimp ever so slightly to the left...now all I have to say is wtf wtf bbq? I guess I'm over it, it's not like I said before a WTF OMG lean its just a sutble one that you'd only notice if you were staring at it. I dont know though...

Look at it this way...you can take a left hand turn faster!! Kind of like a sprint car with the staggered tire sizes LOL

How about standing up straight? Ok, just playing. Did you check the road surface you were parked on and tire pressure?
Dang slipknot, now all of the handling experts are going to put in their 2 cents about left hand turns now!

when you lower your car the rear shifts slightly to the right. wierd. i always rub on the passenger side even when im alone. check out the right rear. the wheel is closer to the fender than on the left.

ok so after a few hours and looking at my brother, dad, and neighbor's cars...I've come to the conclusion that all cars have this slight gimp!! no really!! and I also took note that it dipped ever so slightly on the side that the feul tank is! my dad, brother and my car...all tip a bit to the left, because thats were our tanks are, and my neighbor's...to the right because her car's tank is on the right....so yeah, I mean it sounds right? right? the tank isnt exactly a tiny, lightweight thing sooo yeah...i guess that just how it is

I think, what it looked like to me was that it was offset to the left a tad, I could be wrong I'll check it out again...but wahtever it is it's not just me, alot of cars do this

1/4 inch higher on one side? If one of my hands were 1/4 inch longer than the other, I wouldn't even notice that!!!

hornet_on_flower and I were talking about this in the Scion Life chat room earlier today. On Eibach Pro Kit springs, my driver side is lower than the passenger side by almost half an inch. I thought it was the springs sagging because of my weight, or because I take right turns pretty hard. I bought a new set of '05 shocks/struts (which are different from the '04s) and the driver side was still lower. I was even thinking about getting new springs, but apparently a lot of people have the same problem, though...

I think it has to do with the car itself...I parked next to another xA today, completely stock, and it too sagged a tad to the left....

Perhaps all cars made for the US are lower on the left so that the crowned roads will make them drive closer to level. :ponder:
Hey, it could happen!

Actually this problem happened over here in the nor-cal some time ago. Someone actually came over and said that their spring on the driver side was lower that the passenger side, so I swapped the sides and he has never had a problem since than. Maybe you might want to try that.

Here's the deal. Mine does it as well. A lot of it has to do with the suspension set up. If you jack the car up from the side and then lower it, the side you jacked up will stay at least an inch high until you move the car a bit for it to settle. If you have 2 people in it and get out you'll notice it's more level than when just one person is in the car and gets out. No big deal.

This thread may be a bit dead now (last post in Sept. '05?), but here goes:
My brand new '06 xB sags/leans to the left (when parked).
Noticed it the day after I bought it. Measured left rear fender (at highest point) as a little more than 5/8th inch lower than same point on right rear fender.
Dealer claimed it was "normal"; that car needed to settle in over an initial 500-mile period at least. Blamed it on vehicle being tied down during shipment.
I'm skeptical.
Came back home after an out of town business trip to find out that the car (now 1 and 1/2 weeks old) HAD settled: in the wrong direction. Lean is now even worse, with left side a full inch lower than right side.
Emailed Scion once, and they said they'd never heard of this problem, and told me to take it to the dealership.
Now that I've taken it to the dealer, I emailed Scion again, and am waiting to hear back.
So: from you more experienced (and more technically skilled) owners than me: what do you think? Is this a problem? Should I worry? Should I wait?
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks much.

MattM get more friends to drive with you. :D If that doesn't work swap springs from the other side and you will back to normal.

Always good to have more friends!
I think you've got a good idea about switching the springs left/right;. I mentioned this to the Scion rep I just spoke with yesterday, and he seemed to think ths was an option worth exploring.
After I hear back from him, I'll continue to post to this site to keep you all updated-- particularly if there's something I think could be of use to fellow Scion owners.

Never had this problem. Do see how the right tire is closer to the front of the wheelwell though.
