Default Conversion... RWD

Im on my way to making my TC RWD. Any idea how much this would cost if done by professionals? Prices etc.

PS: I know its gonna be a hard thing to do but this car seems like a dream as a RWD performer.

1) Sell tC.

2) Buy a car engineered to be RWD.

Yeah thats great, thanks for the waste of answer... All im asking is for any price ideas or thoughts about this (BESIDES telling me to get a rwd) . A rwd TC sounds amazing, dont you want to see one being made?

Anyways if anybody else has anything regarding prices etc please post.

I'm sure I could do it for you for $35000. It would probably take 9 months to complete. PM me if you have the cash.

well first off, learn to take a joke. Second of all, if you have to ask how much it costs, it's most likely prohibitively expensive. To be honest, the thought of a RWD tC doesn't really do much for me, because I know the purpose of the car was to be a cheap FWD 4 banger.

This isn't like doing an engine swap, you'd basically have to completely destroy the rear floorpan, make room for a driveshaft, find a RWD drivetrain, etc. etc.

Well... you arent "on your way" if you are asking this. I mean no offense by this either...

No one can tell you the price for it because it hasnt been done. New tranny, custom drive shafts, modded rear end from another car, all mounting and suspension mods to the rear to make it all fit, mods beneath the car for the driveshaft, custom motor mounts... most likely a bunch of cutting and welding all over to make it work.. and on and on. You are looking at a huge, expensive project. Not that it wouldnt rock, but you arent going to get a price quote for it, at least not a good one... if you have the know how and facilities to do it all yourself then it wouldnt be AS expensive.. but still not cheap. If you pay someone else to do the whole thing I would expect to spend $10,000 or more.

If you can pull it off, I think its a great idea. So what it was made with FWD, doesnt mean crap. Just means they couldnt afford to dovelop the RWD and pay for it at the factory lol.

There are several ZX3 RWD converts out there, but most of them have been built up to 300hp+

If you want more info on approximate price I suggest you google some ZX3 forums, or any focus foum for that matter.
Heres a couple to get you started:

i suppose you can try to adapt a 4wd drivetrain from a RAV4 or celica all-trac, then weld the center differential and remove the front axles to make it rwd. subaru owners have done this to make their cars rwd, but the rear axles cant handle all the torque during aggressive driving and break. so stronger aftermarket units are needed.
some guy in florida made a rwd 3rd gen integra using a CRV drivetrain.

or you can put an engine in the back and roll MR2 style. i've seen a rear engine vw corrado. keep the front engine and roll dual LOL.

you let us know how far you get with this project.

If he can get $18,000 in two months, then I'm sure he does.

given with enough money, most anything can be done to a car...
but if someone's asking about it on forums for answers, most likely he's definately not "Im on my way to making my TC RWD".

We are comtemplating a RAV4 drivetrain sway in our tC in a couple of years, nothing seems all that difficult, except the rear suspension and differential, that one has my head spinning when I think about it.

Anything can be done, the real question is should it be done, any way to rationalize it would be another thing to ponder.

Then, the idea and attitude to do something nobody else has done no matter the cost and time it takes, that is really cool, if you do it yourself. To me, paying somebody for such things is just not rewarding enough.

Little off topic here...but Rick, how do you become a "super mod" when you seem relativley new to the forums?? Not a challenge, just a question.
