View Full Version : Rear inside strut brace?
matchbox 03-26-2004, 04:11 AM I would like to know who makes a rear strut brace that mounts between the rear two sides by the crago area?
I have seen a picture on here I think it was painted blue and mounted to the cargo hooks.

Minsk99 03-26-2004, 04:16 AM Squirrel has some pictures in an imagestation album and I think on of them might be what you are talking about. It seems to be holding a sub enclosure in place as well.

Yup, I took that pic at Exposed.
Its the rear brace from an actual bB. It connects the shock towers and is bolted in three places. Check my Exposed pics for a couple more.
DGTLLVR 03-28-2004, 08:48 PM It's all for looks on the rear. It won't help brace much of anything. If someone braces the actual suspension components then I'll care. A cardboard tube and aluminum foil would do the same as what is pictured there.
ncscion 03-29-2004, 03:24 AM there goes the cargo area. it looks nice though. is that some sort of clothes rack?

Is that something that is available for sale? Or do we have to make one ourselves?

What exactly is it that you'd like to brace in the back? There are no struts so you can't exactly have a strut tower brace
Not that I'm condoning that nipple jewelery in the picture but hey, you might as well make it look cool. :)

kdanie 03-31-2004, 05:01 PM I think tieing the rear shock towers together would be benificial to prevent flex in the rear of the body. I intend to do this to my Xa as well as tieing the lower suspension pivots together and fwd to the subframe. Stablizing the suspension points is always good for improving handling and the feel of a car.
I think that pic is of an air bag suspension with fancy pivots, it had better be overkill or there would be serious problems when it broke while driving.

Toy_xbox 03-31-2004, 05:21 PM I have taken a Hotchkis front strutbar cut it, heated the ends and bent them down grinded of the tabs and mounted it between the shock towers... It is now being powder coated and I hope to have it back and installed for the SD BBQ party. I am using this for a show mount for a 17" Samsung DVI/SVGA panel display I will be connecting to my carputer. It is a B!tch to do but it works...
Toy_xbox 04-06-2004, 06:22 PM Here is a pic of a mock up for a sub enclosure with the Hotchkis Bar installed between the rear shock towers...

Thanks
Yeah... I still like the base link if I was going to use it as my daily driver but ... anyway my girlfriend needs it in her 03 Corolla. I have the fiberglass skin on it now and I am working on the spare tire cover. I will try to post some updates later this week.

Do you have any pic's of yours with the spare? I have been delayed in getting my sub enclosure and tire cover smoothed out and gel coated. Just wanted to see if we came up with same concept with a exposed spare tire? :D
HotBox 05-20-2004, 06:23 AM heres mine. i might get it redone again but still need to come up with a different idea that still leaves the spare there

Very clean install,
I really like the pillar mounted components did you do this yourself?
Great minds must think alike, I have been working on putting components angled from the window and making smaller window openings…
HotBox 05-20-2004, 07:21 PM out of my whole system i really like the components the most for some reason. i came up with the idea and a friend of mine at J&Y electronics did the rest.
IMO i think you should just cover the windows. (this is just me, but) i like stealth (cause crime rate here is getting kind of bad). i dont like poeple to see what i have unless i show them. so if it was me id cover the whole window.
keep us updated id really like to see the results
jrtak 05-21-2004, 06:06 PM Here is some pics of a Circuit Sports rear strut brace also the chassis brace they make. I don't have prices since these were prototypes. If you would like more info email me for the guy to contact, i am not affiated with them in any way, they used my car for fitting and testing. They do make a differance in the handling especially when I take the 60 east to the 57 south ramp! :D
