Default Removing the needle backing...please...how do you do it

I know this has been posted before...but I can't find it for the life of me...probably searching for the wrong words.

To remove the color from the back of the speedo needles, what do you use?

Thanks guys.

from the needles themselves??? I think someone here mentioned acetone..or paint thinner.....seems like it would be a safer alternative to using sandpaper...but I don't know...

The only issue I saw from removing it is that the needles are hard to see (at least in the pics I saw) and during the day they are REALLY hard to see at a glance. But maybe that was the pics as well. I want to find a dayglo paint that glows more red to do mine. I think the red needles would look great on the blue gauges

I'm trying for something a little more insane

The backs would be repainted.

As far as paint, check out the wal-mart craft section. Seriously. I redid my Neon's gauges in UV responsive blue. Instead of just letting light through them, they actually glowed at night...was awesome.

They've got all sorts of colors, tiny bottles, like 1.5 oz it's $3.59 or something like that.
