Strange stock headlight problem
I noticed the inside of my stock headlights looked stange while cleaning the box. So I took it to the dealer and had a service tech look at them. The inside of the plastic (enamel?) is starting to come apart like an old pair of sunglasses. There are little lines in the plastic that look like scratches but it's the plastic cracking. Keep an eye on your headlights.
(My dealer of course ordered me new headlights under warranty with no problem.)
It sounds almost like solvent fumes were canned up inside the housings. If so I wonder how. It could be a defect in the mix of plastic? And if it is we other RS2 guys will see some of this I suppose, because our cars were all made at about the same time.
solvent fumes from, say, xylol or that sort of thing (laquer thinner) will crack plexiglas... so maybe polycarbonate too. Oh thouh, you mean the reflectors inside? Some other kind of plastic again, I dunno.
thanks for the heads up. Will watch.

I think the term is called "crazing" and mine, as well as another guy here in PHX, are doing it also. Both of us drive RS2s
Are your lights stock? No new bulbs, etc?
I've been told that the polycarbonite they use to make the covers is prone to this and that it's random (no one knows why) as to which covers will or won't do it. Heat also is suspected of playing a part.
