True, but it's not a horrible idea. It's just overpriced.

 

It's not a bad idea. I have always thought that area of the xB dash is a huge waste of space. It would look better painted black though. And I wouldn't want to drill 4 holes to instal it.

Well, count the time to go to Home Depot, to cut the thing to the exact length, and come up with the original idea the price isn't so bad. Can't fault the guy for coming up with a useful thing!

How long before someone comes up with a carbon fiber version of this?

 

Well hey, at least if you do the mod, you can always pull it out when, slap a t-bone or some burgers on it, strap it to your engine cover, and get to grillin'. Seriously, its a cool idea, just a little akward looking, although i really dont know of anything else to make it with.

 

I was actually contemplating something along those lines (not the same, mind you) for the driver side 'tray'. I miss having lights behind the wheel, and I'm thinking I will try putting a ScanGauge in the center of that area when I get it and covering over it with some lightly-smoked acrylic, door style. The plan is to still be able to read the scangauge, and have the panel act like a door so I can still access the buttons when I need to (fill-ups, resets, etc)

I keep thinking that looks like a dishwasher rack. The only problem is you can't put knives in a toaster!!
