The key to getting better MPG out of your xB
I was getting 30-31 MPG. '05 5 sp 17" wheels. I drive very gentle, and I never went over 3000 rpm. 1200 miles on the odo. 90% city driving
This last tank I decided to try only taking the RPM's to around 2700. I was unsure of when the vvt kicked in, but I knew that I was feeling more power at around 2800-2900, so I figured that is the first threshold. I instantly saw results when I filled up today- 33.3 MPG!!
You will not get anywhere quickly, but man, I LOVE that number!!

before I even put the turbo on my car I was only getting like 230 miles to a fill up...I wasnt really driving too much highway though. I was figuring about 23 mpg w/ I/H/E and pulley. Now I get like 180 miles to a tank if I hit the highway for a lil bit. I need to put a smaller fuel pump in there, the 255LPH is too much right now.
Computing gas mileage can be tricky. You also need to know how much is left in your tank.
When my low gas light comes on, I figure I still have about 1.5 gallons in the tank. So if you are assuming your almost empty when you still have 1.5 gallons left your MPG will divide out to be much lower.

For example: I was a full needle mark above 1/4, and I had something to the effect of 260 miles. I divided that into the gallons (7.8, if I recall correctly) = 33.33 MPG.

wow is there something wrong with my xb? I just put in 9.4 gallons and got 239 miles. So thats about 25 mpg. I drive 100 miles a day on the highway and only have an intake for performance but have 18x7 wheels with 215/35/18 tires.
Any suggestions?

1. Fill tank (stop at one or 2 clicks)
2. Reset trip meter
3. Drive until time to refill
4. Fill tank in the same manner as before and check the gallons of gas just purchased
5. Divide the number of miles driven by the number of gallons just purchased
Viola
As stated above, if you do this over several tanks of gas, you will get a more accurate average.
