I did a search and didn't find a post for this, but if there is one and someone could link it that'd be great.

I'm just wondering how long the stock Bridgestone tires for the tC last. I'm at about 16,000 miles and they are definitely starting to wear down. Is that normal?

I've been looking at getting other tires.. looking at ratings and pricings at TireRack.com and such.

I know everyone used to say that the Pirelli Pzero Nero M&S tires were the best to get for the tC. Is that still true or did someone decide there were better tires than that?

And for my final question.. Why are the stock Bridgestone's $169 to replace and the Pirelli's are $118?

 

Mine are at 11 and still are pretty good. Bridgestones are pretty expensive and not the best in the snow. Ill definatly get something else when they wear out. There are much better tires for cheaper as you found.

 

I got my tires rotated at 5K The fronts are worn almost to the wear indicators. The rears are good as new. But i drive my car pretty hard so thats the reason it doesnt last long

Anyone else use the stock tires in the snow?

 

i have the yokohamas (july 7th) and am not thrilled with them, plus they are as expensive if not more then the bridgestones. I feel my ABS kicking in quite a bit especially when it is wet out and I need to stop.

I am thinking about the pirelli tires, but I hear the treadlife is not good. However people rave about their traction and handling. I am willing to trade longevity for performance.

There are good bridgestone tires out there, but I have heard negative things about the re92's. I had the re950's on my last car and they had great traction and I was at 40K with them and they were still like new. The profile of the tire was higher but they still rode pretty harsh. Someone also posted somewhere, he tried them on his tC and ended up returning them and going with the pirelli's

 

I live in the Colorado Springs area and was looking for an all season tire that handles moderate snow well. The pirelli pzero Nero and the Continental Extreme Contact get good ratings and reviews on tirerack.com. I would expect them to be better than the stock tires in the rain also. Both of them have no milage guarantee, so their improved snow traction may be due partially to a softer compound. There are some complaints about thePirellis wearing quickly. If you are not in a snow area, there are probably more choices.

I am planning on getting the Continentals before winter gets here.

I had mine in the snow last season... they aren't too bad as long as you have enough tread.

 

I did. They worked alright. They are safe enough if you use some common sense. They sure arent great snow tires but its not unsafe as some people will tell you.

 

Where are the wear indicators on the Bridgestones?

 

You mean the wear bars across the tread? If the there is a bar all the way across the tread you need new tires. If you cant see it then they are ok.
