I thought I would share my victory story with my SL family. I was sitting on local highway 46 here in Clifton NJ at a traffic light this dude in a blue car pulls up on my passenger side (supposed to be turning right) I not paying any attention to who he is or what hes driving wait for the light to turn green. Upon the color change I notice the blue car isnt turning rigbt, I notice he shifts into 2nd and pulls ahead I shift aand chirp 2nd and now I pull ahead the next thing I know we are in fourth and he is pushing his car to the driver side (my passenger side) trying to force me out of the lane into traffivc in the other lane. I drop into 5th Im sure he is as well I look and notice the cars ahead in my lane are stopped and they are coming up fast :shock: luckily there is no1 in the next lane so I jump over and the dick in the wrx is stuck in the stopped traffic and I take off down the highway for the victory. Thank god there was no police there at the time because its a major cop hangout around that area..

I of course dont encourage street racing :no: but I also felt the need to stand my ground and not let this a**h**e cut me off either. Besides I figured I'd give him a taste of what a TC really is all about..

Oh and I did this all while having groceries in the trunk and mom in the passenger boo is she not happy..

:ponder: , i HIGHLY doubt that your beat a wrx. I raced one last week in which he gave me 2 car lengths and he still won. So either your lieing, or he was playing you and was laughing all the way home. :rofl:

Hey he could of been toying with me but like I said he was on the passenger side of me on the highway and close to the curb and I wasnt about to let him in front of me.. And you probably couldnt beat out the wrx because you 2 were trying to race where as we werent and I already had the edge on him I from the begining had half a car and like I said he was up against the curb to start with..

I never said anything about dragging, I wouldnt drag againt a WRX your asking to be killed, this was strictly him trying to cut me off at a light and me blocking him out and owning him. So Chris if your saying you believe me thank you.

So basically, you were stuck in stop and go traffic with you mom, and you were ____ed that a bright colored car with a big spoiler was going to merge in front of you, so you switched lanes without looking, cut someone else off, your mom saw it , screamed, threw her arm across your chest, then you "Dropped it into 5th" and sped off to "Victory". The guy in the yellow lancer never even saw you till your mom reached over and blew the horn.

I think the bets part of the story was having mom in the passenger seat. Kudos.

I think this is a perfect example of what I call "CA freeway manuvering" I find it amusing that my 140k mile bare bone absolute crappiest model 4-banger Tacoma can beat these idiots over here that spend thousands on their car. Of course if it was from a stop, I would lose to these cars, but I find it amusing to beat a car on the freeway that is driving like a complete piece of crap as they don't know how to drive in the first place. Playing with them in my beat-___ Tacoma is even more hilarious.

Speed up and match their speed, make it seem like you're trying to weave in and out of traffic like they are, and when you get them to follow you. box them in with another car. Add some inconsistent speeds to REALLY ____ them off. Icing on the cake is when they finally manage to break through the wall that you created to prevent passing, allow them to fly off b/c they're so ____ed over not going 100mph, then catch up and do it all over again. Man, I'm sitting here with a smile on my face recollecting past experiences..... :)

The WRX obviously wasn't intending on ever turning right, the idiot should have hammered it right from the beginning as he was attempting to pass a vehicle w/ a lane and with the right of way. Had he hammered it, he probably would have had enough time to pass you like an a-hole but at least he would have done it safely*

*=with enough passing/braking distance between the cars. Although it was illegal and obviously not safe in theory because there isn't an assigned lane, the fact that there is a substatnial chance to pass w/o any consequences defines safely in this instance. IMO anyway :P

The non-safe (in the opinions of many) method:
I personally would have let off the gas, glanced two lanes over as you rolled past me(the driver side lane that you got into), merged over 2 lanes and floored it. That way you would have been stuck in traffic and I would have been gone.

Before anyone gets on me for my aggressive (a-hole) driving, let me explain that anyone that doesn't live in CA or a place with traffic like ours, let alone ever experienced it, opinion's wouldn't ever be considered b/c you don't know what I (& others) go through. I have rolled down windows to yell at my own race to "OPEN YOUR FREAKIN (expletive) EYES YOU ____________ (insert racial slur)" BTW, I'm asian so let's just say I scream this (and others) alot living in CA.

I had a friend who's friend came down from TX . My friend let me drive back from my house in the OC to his house in LA because he's experienced my traffic driving before and wanted to get home quick. The friend from TX kept making comments and bragging about this and that blah blah blah "OH I DRIVE BETTER AND I DO WHAT HE SAYS YOU DO IN TX" friend asked me to slow down and to please stop driving the way I was and never opened his mouth about how he could drive again after I took him down the 405 in LA (right around LAX) at 80+mph while traffic was moving 60-70mph with moderate-heavy traffic. Yeah, I was driving like a complete ___ and felt like a complete prick (in reference to the people I was cutting off left and right) while doing it, but the guy was really ____ing me off. *WARNING* STEROTYPE COMING UP *WARNING* He had that "typical" TX attitude/flair about him and it was really beginning to irritate me. I did what I did to shut him the hell up....and it worked, so I'm not going to be sorry for anything that I did that night as I didn't do anything to anyone except for him (maybe scared the other drivers a little). I mean, the guy only lives near 2 lane highways and he does what I do on the 5 lane wide 405 in LA...COME ON NOW.

Anyway, I'm working and bored and sorry of the stupid long post.

Owning a WRX (270 Hp and a tC (stock), I would just say that he wasnt trying his hardest and you had the upper hand on the road so he backed down. End of story

Yeah, I call BS too.

I own a 2005 WRX with 260hp (Cobb AccessPORT), but I can safely say even a stock WRX would have put buslengths on you by fifth gear if he was even trying at all. It sounds to me like the guy was probably driving normally and you cut him off for no real reason. That being said, he was going awfully fast not to pass you. Bottom of fifth gear in the WRX is probably (never tried it) about 125mph, so there's no question you were driving way too fast.

I feel that I have to comment....I know where you raced, I used to be a mechanic in Clifton. you are crazy for speeding on 46....not only is it full of cops its full of traffic and potholes.....if your gonna race do it on the parkway north/south....Ive hit 145mph on the parkway no problem....I know where all the cops sit and theres less traffic (for the most part). First off I think the only way you beat this kid and I hate to say it cuz I luv the Tc is b/c he didnt know how to drive or was too scared to speed in traffic....a wrx would own in a race....but u werent racing, u were playing chess. you getting ahead of him had nothing to do with speed. :P

The story is, like someone said a wrx would have killed ya 2 car length. But since the traffic was bad, he couldnt cut you off. Welcome to the real world, this is what you called road rage :). I get it alot but I never get ____ed to people who tries to pass me (without making me go slower). I do get annoyed with people who drives on the left lane going only 5 over or at speed limit even. Doesnt matter how fast you are driving, if someone behind you (all the way to the left lane) going faster than you, you should move over to the right.

Regardless, I hate people who cut you off from a turning lane (right/left turn only lanes) to go straight because they decided they didn't want to wait in line like everyone else. You know those people. They are the ones that I will try and cut off because they are being an ___. I think this is what happened to the OP.

The regular Impreza is also missing the hoodscoop though the WRX spoiler is an option. The 02/03 WRXs and the 04 WRX Wagon had dual tailpipes out of the muffler, but all 04+ have a single (and rather large) tailpipe.

i hate when people go out of their way to make sure you can't pass them. i don't understand how that benefits your day. i'm asian, and i'm in cali...i still don't understand it. if you're cruising along at 75 in the left lane, and i'm doing 80-85, why do you feel the need to speed up cause i'm passing you? it's weird how people get offended at being passed here. the other thing i can't understand is why people feel the need to tail me instead of going around me. left lane i'll move, but any other lane ill just slow down. anywho, LA is weird.

Word. I was driving from Tampa to Panama City on the interstate earlier this week. I basically set my cruise control at 75 for the entire drive. I can't tell you how many idiots I would pass, that would then speed up to get in front of me. Then less then a minute later I would catch back up to them, etc. I also don't like people that don't get out of the left lane when you flash them.
