very tight squeeze, it came from Toyota Matrix, i have to do so much cutting, then bonding, then covering it with felt material. then securing it to the center console by a flat sheet of metal and eight screws on each side.

You have a part number or anything? Also how is it held in place? I know someone is working on one but it looked way too small to even be comfortable, that looks SWEET!

Also is the bottom section of that under the cover made out of the same stuff speaker box carpet is made out of? I dont think so but it does look that way.

sorry i don't have the part number, but its a Toyota Matrix console that i took from a dismanttler here in Irwindale,CA. for $30.

too much cutting is involve to make it fit, then two flat sheet of metal brackets(1"x 4") on each side ,are used to secure it , 4 screws on each bracket.

Looks a little bit wide around the rear bolster.

yes since i made the cutting, i fab an aluminum sheet to cover the cut, then rivet it. then covered it with a felt material(similar to subbox, but a little thinner).

lol, nice answer  was right in front of you...

that looks sweet... i was originally going to try for the 4runner console, it would've been the same amount of work.

thats cool....

:P

you know i'll add .02 cents here....
the MINI doesn't come with an armrest either, and there is this company that makes this huge foam-shaped armrest that of course is trimmed in leather.... and you don't screw it in or anything - you just shove it between the seats, and the armrest is thick enough so that the pressure of the two seats holds it in place.

Of course they don't call it the "jam it in armrest", but it worked for my mini... maybe i'll try that in the scion.

i love how they phrase it: easy install with no drilling required! (i.e. just "shove it in".)

see the pic though?

I would like to see a custom scion armrest made though. i can't believe no one has mass-produced one yet... hasn't the car been out for a year now? aren't there any custom fabricator shops out there? why doesn't toyota/scion offer one from the dealerships as an aftermarket accessory by now?

hmmm...

ah.. i was thinking of that crazy one that has the silver bars below it and the black top... matches the interior of the mini perfectly... should match ours as well since we got silver and black. too lazy to look for a picture  i think that's the one thats cost big $$$

do you really need an armrest? i dont even find myself missing one, and in my crx i had one transplanted from an integra. oh well, both hands should be on the steering wheel anyway :P

i need that armrest, my shoulders start getting sore and what not from holding my long ___ arms up, lol... plus i want the storage space that it provides since i'll be losing my little hide-away soon (aka easy bake oven)

Yes, need balance. Can't always lean to the left... And if they are done right you can have your arm on the armrest and still hold the wheel

Besides, how many of those stick riders have both hands on the wheel...
