I think the supercharger is the better option due to the instant response and i believe you will see a greater increase in torque as well over the Turbo.

i miss the blow off noise from a turbo.

ELECTRONIC NA BLOW OFF SOUND GENERATOR
Once the accelerator is stepped off, the NA Blow Off Valve will generate a sound like a turbocharged vehicle's blow off valve. The sound from the NA Blow Off Valve can be adjusted to be the same as a turbo blow off valve. The NA Blow Off Valve sounds like a real blow off valve in turbo applications. You will not be able to tell the difference on the sound generated between the NA Blow Off Valve & the turbo blow off valve. The sound generated is conspicuous, and will not make one have a second look to ensure if it is genuine.

2 types of timbre are available for selection.
Built-in amplifier ensures adequate 10W increases.
3 wiring points ensure simple installation
For most Japanese car models. However, flap system and Kalman system might have air flow issues.
NA Blow Off Sound Genarator, Sound Speaker and Installation & Instruction manuals are included tis kit.

Holy crap.. that's worse then the turbo whistler exhaust tip!

I'd got for turbo. I like the full boost throughout it's range and the snap when it spools up. Yeah, and the blow off is hot too...

scion - 14k
supercharger/turbo ~ $3k

total - $17k

consider what other cars you could get that have 50 more hp and will still have a warranty

A turbo is a lot more efficient since it works on energy(hot exhaust) that would otherwise be wasted. The small restriction in your exhaust which is created when you set your car up for a turbo due to th turbos position in the exhaust stream) is a small price to pay for this immense benefit. On a supercharger it requires the engine to drive a pulley or gears(which creates a parasitic drag on the engine)thus wasting horsepower that you could have used at the wheels. It is common (on V-8 engines) to see 30 out of every 100hp added by a beltdriven supercharger being wasted turning the drive pulleys and belts; compare this with a turbo's 5-10 hp loss due to exhaust restriction. On the other hand, you have instant power and don't have to wait for turbo to spool up. Both have their benefits and draw backs but for me I like the turbo.

Yea true you can get a car thats factory but wait do insurance quote for the SRT-4
then look at one for the xB your basically gonna end up paying 2-4k more a year for the SRT-4......

Plus the xB is a unique import... not some detroit wanna be import....

Doesn't it also depend on weather you are driving an auto or manual. I thought that since there is no way of effectively spooling up a turbo in an auto that it was best to go with a super charger? Is there a way of changing the gear ratios (I think that is the right term) in an auto to make good use of a turbo?

I say supercharger just cause I've never driven a supercharged car before and I might be interested in seeing what its like. I also like the idea of the low and midrange power in a supercharger..........cause I'm figuring I don't need to be going very fast in this car (top speed wise)......I'd get scared.

i'm the same way but opposite if that makes any sense. i have driven mustangs with superchargers but i have always wanted to drive a turbo driven car. by all means there may be a lose in power on a belt driven supercharger but believe me you can't tell if you don't already have it and once you have that instant power your like holly fckin shiat. i get wood everytime i think of how cool it would be to drive a xb that was turboed or supercharged. i just want whats more bang for the buck and most reliable.

just to let u know...u can put a bov on a supercharger....vortech uses a wastegate/bov setup on their high powered super charger kits for my civic si....
course it would only work for the power enterprise s/c...no way to put it on the blitz s/c

yea i know the superchargewr will be much more reliable on our engines (like 10.5:1 c/r) but i alays wanted to feel a turbo in a car i owned..... My uncle has a 87 buick regal turbo(just like the grand national) and it will ____en get up and move but i jus dont like how below around 2500rpms its not that qiuck of a car.....

like i said before add the turbo for more top end and racing power....

Add the super for a civic Si eater....

Both will earn you some respect on the street and strip ( 15 second passes and shave 2-4seconds off 0-60 times)

What you pay for is what you get that 1grand more for the super charger makes up for all the tuning and buying new and upgraded turbo parts.....

or go the more reliable route like i did on my civic si and go all motor.....
the scion with a ported head....larger valves....intake manifold....throttle body.....cam re-grind...ecu....these things would float all motor....
im putting down just over 240whp in a bored and built b18 in my civic

Personally, I think it depends on your application...

If this is your daily commuter and is mostly street driven, I'd go for a supercharger because of it's instant power and low end torque.

If you spend a lot of time in the high RPMs (where the turbo is most efficient), then I'd select the turbocharger.

You could do both...

I'd say a supercharger for a daily driver...
But I love the turbo, and the blow off valve sound...

My friend's had
300 Zx with Turbo's that would go out after awhile... (years but still, its possible)
Civic with Supercharger, real quick right off the line...

Is there a way of changing the gear ratios (I think that is the right term) in an auto to make good use of a turbo? You can get a stall converter if you'e interested in dragging. The automatic turboed can actually be quicker than a manual once you're boosting because there is no turbo lag between shifts. However, unless your tranny is built for racing, your auto will die after a significant power increase. Trust me, I've blown four of them. If you want to race and/or upgrade your car, you should buy a manual transmission. Automatics should only be bought for people who: don't race; do not modify cars; do not drive aggressively; do not know how to drive a manual.

In applications like this, that may be true. However, automatics can be great for drag racing in different cars. Typically in domestics, the autobox will handle more than the manual boxes. Also, an automatic transmission may allow for more consistent launches.

This "Ultimate Choice" is to live another day or take ones own life. It's a choice most don't even think about ... but it's the ultimate one and everyone has make it one way or another.

Turbocharger hands down.

to me it comes down to off the line performance ( 0 to 60 and 1/4 mile and stop light racing)
that means supercharger for me.

i don't see to many top fuel or funny cars that are turbo powered.
