Default Cutting your bumbstops.

I read in a magazine that if you're going to use your stock shocks with lowering springs, its best to cut your bumbstops because you can increase the travel to accomodate the lowering springs. Is this true? Please give me your opinions. I'm thinking of buying lowering springs and aftermarket shocks later but I'm scared that my stock shocks would break sooner. Any input would really help. Thanks in advance.

I think most of the people on hear that I've heard have cut them. In the tutorial I used the person cut them...so I did. No problems here.

If you're worried about the struts/shocks blowing, then I would suggest going ahead and replacing them when you lower it. Better to spend the money sooner or hold off on lowering it, and do the work once then twice. It might break your bank, but when you end up having to replace your struts/shocks later you'll be kicking yourself for not having changed them in the first place. I definately would not want to go back and do the install all over again on my car, that's why I upgraded my struts/shocks all at once.

Definate word of advice GET AN ALIGNMENT after they settle. I just got mine aligned this past week after having given them a month and a half to settle, and what a difference. Better gas mileage, better handling, less drag and I'm more confident in the car's handling all from dropping it off at the stealership and spending $55.

^^ i agree. i think you should jus either wait to get both the shocks and springs or get them both now if u cant wait. u'll end up saving some money for buying them as a package deal. plus you wont have to worry about them blowing on u
