Not being funny...just wondering if all dealers are really adhering to sticker price on these cars?

I want a base auto xB in any of several colors (although my Altima is black and I like black on all of my cars). Anyway, the car should list around $14950 ish...can I expect to save anything on the price???

I am a mgr in a dealership, so it's in my nature to chissel!!! Let me know...thinking of just dropping into a dealer tomorrow and picking one up.

That was pretty much mine but in Camo. Auto, floormats, bumper applique and cargo cover - $15,200 before the State of CA got involved

Would've never got the cargo cover had I seen it first. I could make a better one and just might....

They DO have some leeway<sp?> because I brought in my 97 Ford Taurus with 140k on it and they gave me $2300 for it!!! Note this is after I had been to about 5 non-Scion dealerships and was told I would get between 'We dont want it' and 'maybe $500'

Please note I also go sideswiped about a year ago and the mirror is bolted to the door and needs a new door and front drivers quarter

good luck on trying to take some price away it won't happen. unless they have some aftermarket stuff on there and they try to bargin when they shouldn't, but you will end up paying msrp. check www.edmunds.com

They're pretty rigid on the price. That's one part of the "Pure Price Policy" that they won't bend at all.

Where they do vary is in their add-on junk fees and mandatory accessories. Some dealers charge the MSRP only while others sneak in hundreds of dollars of bad surprises in at the end of the deal.

As in any car deal, use caution.

Yep - you will not get any leeway on the price - there's a pure pricing policy for a reason.

I found that the price is locked in and my dealer was pretty honest.

Although, I told them that I owed about 9900 on my CIVIC trade-in and they valued it at much less, about 8800. They went by Kelly Blue Book. I told them I'll just come back after I pay off a little more in a few months, I'm not in a rush. They came back with the 9900 for the CIVIC. I guess they were willing to negotiate on the trade-in, but not on the car.

Salesman told me privately that they want these cars out on the road! I said goodbye to my POS lemon 2001 CIVIC and drove out with the car an hour later!

It sounds like I should go find myself a rat at work to trade in...then they will overallow on the trade and I will save some money.

I didn't know if Scion actually had a "pure pricing policy" or if the dealers were just sticking to msrp because they can. When I sell a new 350Z...I usually get sticker, too...but that's not Nissan's policy.

Anyway, I really appreciate the input! My wife thinks I'm nuts...but I really dig the looks of the xB and think it would make a good commuter car for me.

Thanks for all of the help.

500 off MSRP with the college rebate plan

It's $400 rebate (applied towards down payment)...but only if you qualify for top tier credit.

Guys I am picking up a Black one. We are ordering it tonight.
Getting the TRD wheels, Springs and amber light kit.
Really dig the looks and the room. it will most likely be
a daily driver for my fiance', and we are deliberating an
automotic or a standard.

Any thoughts?

The TRD stuff is sick!

You're going to have lots of people telling you to get the manual...the auto is under powered etc.....I have the auto and i am very happy with it. I commute 120 miles a day...my bf has a stick and i hate driving it in stop and go. I was afraid the auto would be a drain on this little 108 hp engine....so I test drove both...and I found very little difference between the two. So I got the auto for practicality and i haven't regretted it since. I have all the power I need....I floor it on hwy on ramps and am at hwy speeds by the top of them...I can pass going uphill at 80....if I need a little extra oomph...I just hit OD off and boy does that little engine pull

My xB:

Base + Automatic + Rs 1.0 ($980) = a smudge over 16k... Then tag/title/tax came to a little over 18k.... then financing....

so yeah.. I paid what you call "MSRP"...

I officially hate taxes now... seeing your car at 16k then to see it with taxes is a heart ache...

He's asking about the MSRP not your trade in value

Definately a good choice of color!! Personally I've got an auto because sometimes I just get sick of shifting. If you're going to be an around the town driver I would probably get an auto cause shifting will get old really quick, especially if you keep on hitting reds. If you're going to be doing a lot of freeway driving, go with the stick. Better gas mileage and you don't have to shift constantly. I know everyone on here is going to tell you to get a manual, but those are just my .02.
