Default New Scion xB owner here

Hello there people. My name is Derek, I live in Chicago, 26 years old, Graphic Designer, and I am the proud owner of a 2006 Scion xB CamoMet. All it has so far is the iPod stereo (which doesn't work!). I have huge plans for this car...wagon...box...and I will update with pics as necessary. I plan to go the whole rims/neon/bolt-ons/lowering/bB route. Nothing gaudy, just tasteful. I don't plan on trying to make the car faster, just more fun to drive (if it's possible. I already smile every morning when I see it)
Anyway, I just thought the people on here are realy cool and pretty funny. I just sold my Mustang and used to be on Mustang sites a lot. Lots of people on those sites can be, uh, weenies. Anyway, people still ask me "How can you go from a Mustang to THAT??" And all I can do is smile and say, "if you have to ask you won't understand."
Anyway, hello!

You will enjoy your box more, I promise.
I like to recomend the Cabin Air Filter that Scion does not supply in the Cabin Air Filter tray that is behind your new glove box. Buy one at the dealer for $22 or go to autozone or advanced and pay about $12. Or make one yourself after reading the do-it-yourself thread in the TECH section called AIR CABIN FILTER Fabrication. This will reduce the dust on your dash board.
Good luck with your box.

I was wondering about that dust...thank you for the recommendation.
I have lots of reading to do on this site as far as recommendations, knowing what others have done (good and bad), what the engines are capable of, and meets/gatherings.
I think I will like the box more also, it is definitely more spacious and fuel efficient!!

Welcome! Glad to see another camo on the block! Air Filter is a must. Go to walmart get the best home air filter- a whole 8 bucks cut it to fit makes about 6 filters.

Get us some pics of your new ride!!

I went from a Mustang to an xB. Of course mine was a complete bucket, a 4-cyl with a 16+ second 0-60 time.

Welcome!

Just got mine on Friday. got 32mpg on the first tank (85% highway).

Traded a Nissan Frontier crewcab 4x4 (17mpg)

im going for the yakama roof rack (snowboard & carry all), maybe raising it an inch , better sound, leds, fog lights/hids, sunroof, CAI, exhaust.

My dog doesnt like it yet. he has a hard time with balance.

Congrats Derek, I've heard it performs well in the winter months in this area too!

thanks for the warm welcome.
As far as preforming well during our harsh Chicago winters...I HOPE SO!! I can't imagine it'd be much worse than the Stang I had. If i tapped the gas too hard it went fishtailing all over the road, even with my winter rims/tires.
I will update with pics as soon as I wash it. It poured here last night so I gots to get it clean!!
Oh, by the way, my xB's name is Rambo. (The whole camo thing...)

Just curious...does the cabin air filter tray exist on the '04 and '05 as well? I am too lazy to walk outside and check.

Yes, CUEBALL, it exists. Read that TECH thread to see how to pop out your glove box and fill that tray with filter.

hey derek - nice to meet _another_ designer!

anyhow, for those who are curious, the xB does GREAT in the snow! I thought I would add that in, becasue here in colorado, that's a big concern for me, and it was hard to find information about that prior to purchase.

About two weks ago we had our first big dump (14"), and I found myself tooling around as though I had 4wd... This was with a stock suspension and the 15" donuts they come with... I have since put on some 18s, and am curious to see how horrible the handling becomes in snow.
