Default Good qaulity carbon fiber hoods?

What's a good qaulity carbon fiber hood? And will it actually reduced weight? i know some carbon hoods don't make a difference in weight at all, which defeats the purpose....i saw a CF hood on ecchoods.com, how it that?

I have never in my life heard of a carbon fiber hood that doesn't reduce weight. I don't think there is one...
Show me a site or something with one of these hoods on it.

I also need a carbon fiber hood. But I want mine color matched, kind of the NSX. All I want is the weight savings.

I wish I could give you the site...I remember them mentioning that some CF hoods arent true CF hoods or something like that....
Bubble if you're interested ecchoods.com or motor-fx.com have CF hoods, the ECC is only 300 while the motor-fx is 350...but the motor-fx one looks like it has more quality

Thanks for the links. Both look very promising. I'm still tryin to deceided if I want to color match it or leave it as it. I also don't want to have to use hood pins, so I kind of want one with the strenght and the latch. I might be asking for too much though.

Some companies overcharge on shipping to make it appear that the products are cheaper.

hmm that's true, I guess I'll have to look into it...btw, forgive me if this sounds stupid but don't you NOT have to run with hood pins for CF hoods? I thought it was just for looks...

You dont have to, but most do to ensure the saftey of the hood and you. CF hoods have been known to fly up because they are very light weight. A lot of people don't use hood pins if they don't drive alot of highway or drive high speeds..Or do not drive every day.

Daily driver, highway+ speeds..i recommend pins...

Damn, that's what I wanted to avoid. Even if the hood is pretty rigid and has a standard latch?

If I get the hood, I would also probably go with the hood pins, as long as I can find black ones or something. I don't want to risk the hood flying up.

Wouldnt it latch the same way a normal OEM hood would? I dont see why the weight would affect whether or not it flies up... Just close it properly, right?

I'm thinking that with the light weight of the hood, it would be easier for the wind to rip it from the latch. That's the only thing that I could think of. I just want to know for sure before I buy one, because I don't want to install hood pins. I would think that if it was a light weight skin type, there is where you would have a problem with it flipping up.

Interesting. Who manufactures it, and at what price? If you don't mind me asking.

I never used hood pins on my old hondas cf hoods.
I just recently ordered my CF hood from BBist.com, I personaly suggest them, or motor-fx.com (fiber-fx)
They both also offer discounts to Scion Evolution members.

go with a high quality Japanese brand like this:

http://www.c-one.co.jp/C-ONEPARTS/ist.html

They're not cheap but when you get the hood, you won't be sorry. C-one makes good stuff that's durable and lightweight.
