Default Let the spending spree begin

I finally got my tC and the modifications can and will be ordered. Seeing as how there's a very good amount of product knowledge on these boards and everyone seems so opinionated will you guys critique my plans on blowing good hard earned money?

Anyway, the list goes as follows:

Tein SS+P Coilovers with EDFC
K&N Typhoon CAI (Carb sticker)
C&C Custom Catback w/ hi-flo cat, resonator, & Borla Muffler
Weapon R Engine Damper
Oil Catch Tank
Short Shifter
MMW Ignition EQ

Everything else (that I don't have listed) is pretty much for looks such as pedals, shift ****, etc.

Ream/critique/modify my possible purchase(s) please.

Thanks for the feedback.

Personally i think that the oil catch tank is a waste of money at this point in your modifications but thats just me. I would wait and get that towards the end. And the ignition equilizer I haven't really seen enough proof that its a performance enhancing mod to justify the price tag. I personally would wait on those two things and use that $200 and change for something else.

I knew I forgot to add something to it.....no boosting
I'd love to do it, but I would rather have bought a tC-T from factory b/c I don't have the time to deal with tuning and excess BS like blown up engines.

The oil catch....well, it's only 50-70 bucks, not too big of a deal and might as well throw it in there since we're gonna be in there anyway.

Ignition EQ? Eh, feel about the same way, but more on the waste of money side and will probably drop that.

I just talked my g/f into buying me Tein Basics....I just got some 50% off of the SS+P's with EDC Swindling g/f's is what it's all about...We pay for everything else don't we?

I feel like I've been studying for a test for the past month regarding which parts and such I want to go with...

anything else? NO TURBO

Swaybars, endlinks, header, pulleys, ... um whats the goal? power and control without boost?

I would get sways, but after reading results with actual measurements and such, I don't think it would be a good idea. The front would just create additional understeer, and the rear...well, the rear I would consider, but at the same time, I'm afraid to stiffen up the rear.

After reading all these spin out stories and such, last thing I need is an unforgiving back end to help create an even easier way to spin out.

I used to drive a Tacoma, I've spun out just from a normal left turn before and I don't really feel like slamming my tC into things like I did my Tacoma.

The pulley, heard it immediately voids the warranty and can sometimes cause more harm than gain.

Header

Waiting on MMW to get caught up in manufacturing and such.

Steven@Coach:

Exactly, power and control w/o boost and being able to swap out parts if need be necessary. (Yeah, I know the coilovers would probably screw my chances at a suspension warranty)

My other thoughs would be brakes & rotors. Wheels & tires cost too much so they're out of the question. I'd like to keep the total price tag to under 3k with installation.

Hmm....what about e-Manage for that press me 10hp (or something) button.....

If you have the stock re92s, getting new tires will be the best suspension mod you can ever do.

Get the rear sway, TCs understeer like a biatch.

As far as E-manage, what can it do for a NA car? advance the timing some? remove the rev limit? Not worth the money

I would defnitely add pulleys to the list. I've also heard all the horror theories from the nay-sayers but I can speak from personal experience.... During the past 5 years and 50,000+ miles I have not had any problems with my Toyotas. If you want some more reading material you can check out www.NonStopTuning.com or www.zeropointindustries.net

Either way, congrats on you tC and good luck

Forgot to add, I've had pulleys on my WRX for 30k miles now with no probs, but I have just lightened pulleys, not underdriven ones.

I thought K&N has been CARB legal for over a month now.

http://arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermkt/de...o/D-269-30.pdf

Hmmm....maybe not for the tC then? Can anyone confirm?

I'm all of a sudden interested in the pulley, flywheel, clutch, pads, and maybe rotors.

Based on what lo_bux_racer has said, I think it's worth considering with more research (the pulley that is)....

Awww crap, back to the interweb for more sleepless research.....

well, in your NA setup, don't forget a S-Pipe, so, CAI/Header for intake, then S-pipe/cat-back exhaust for the exit flow.

why not throw in a new flywheel if you're sporting a manual tranny, as well as maybe a new sporty clutch.

(still thinks like a ZIP stage 0 turbo would be cool if nothing else)

All these are great points. Personally if i was to spend $3000 on my car I would go with springs, sways, struts, endlinks, rims/tires, pads, ss brake lines, slotted rotors, strut bars, and then anything left over I would put towards whatever else. Cause lets face it, this is a great little car we have but without going to forced induction the after market just isn't there for NA power.

Which is exactly why I definately want to start with Tein SS+P's.

BTW, those with rims/tires = 3000 = no more mods

wheels will definately be down the line somewhere, maybe in 2 or 3 months depending on my moving the hell out and new job situations....

List has been formatted to:

Tein SS+P Coilovers with EDFC
K&N Typhoon CAI (Carb sticker)
C&C Custom Catback w/ hi-flo cat, resonator, & Borla Muffler
Weapon R Engine Damper
Oil Catch Tank
Short Shifter

Good possibility:

MMW Header & S-pipe that someone is selling
Clutch
Flywheel
Pads & Rotors

Wasting money here:
Grounding Kit
Ignition EQ
Demon Eyes
Bluebatmobile overlays
CF applique
CF shiftboot
CF hood

Any particular suggestions on flywheels & clutches?

Maybe I should consider Tien basics.......nah.
Well that came and went pretty quickly.

IMO, turbo all the way. If it tuned right and under normal psi, I dont think you would have to worry about it much.

What kind of rims and tires are you looking at?
