Default Ordered an '06 tC, Have a small problem. Help.

Ok here it is, I ordered an '06 a little over a month ago, got here the other day, was suppose to have the leather put on it. Anyways, I was under the impression that the leather package scion offers included the front door inserts, rear panel inserts and also the center console cover??? Corect me if I am wrong, but my dealer is trying to yank my chain here, I am not about to pay $1200 for half a leather interior, if anyone has had this option added, and is port or dealer installed, but the window sticker has "leather faced seats" listed but its still full leather let me know, I know I shot a e-mail to corporate a while back asking about this, and was told it came with the forementioned items, but now I can't find it, and they are(dealership) telling me it doesn't. My salesman thought it came like that also, but now its like unless you can prove it, we won't do crap for you. So any help would be appreciated, unless you think I can say it wasn't delivered as promised and get my deposit back?? If it comes to that, I'll I can say is I won't be buying a scion or a toyota for that matter than.

Thanks.

It SHOULD come with them. Mine did and so did everyone else that I know. Otherwise tell them u dont want the car or you want the price cut to not include them.

If all you've put down was a deposit, you can always take it back. Just give them any reason you want.

leather is NOT a toyota/scion option from the factory.. never has been and isn't for 06.. that leather is a dealer installed thing.. it's the dealer that is sending your seats off to an upholstery shop to do the work.. Toyota will most likely tell you that they have nothing to do with it.. Since the tC doesn't come with leather from the factory nor is it a port installed option..

If anything be mad at the dealer for making up crap and lying to you..

Helpful info, thanks. I'll I did was put a deposit down. So in any case if they don't fix it, than screw em. No scion, maybe i'll buy something else. They were the only dealer in my area that didn't try to yank my chain until now.

OK, so I have gotten no where with this, the dealership wants ME to prove them wrong, or they won't do anything (leather) not only that but the vehicle has scratches and swirl marks you can see, I know I only put a small deposit down, but I really thinking about moving on even though I have waited a good month and half for the vehicle to get here, and previously had been to three other dealers in the area that treated me like crap, gave me there little run around etc. etc. etc. This is the last dealer in the area and I have been trying to get this car for little over 3 months now. And now I have to deal with this, would any of you take the car with the scratches? a few are pretty bad, but if the discount right, I mean within a year the car is getting painted, so..... but than there is the matter of the leather that was suppose to be put on, there telling me they can't added it to the door panels, so it might just come down to me not purchasing a scion or toyota for that matter for a very very long time. If there are any other dealers near Orlando on here, let me know, I really don't want to drive out of my way just to get this car, I have a few others in mind, but the tC just caught my eye so, let me know. Thanks.

The only time I saw the door panels done in leather as well as the arm rest was with the catskinz leather kits . As for the port installed leather (port installed here in the southeast) I cant remember if the door panels were done or not . As for the scratches and swirl marks I have to ask you this . Is it a new car ? Do new cars come with swirl marks ? Sorry but thats unexceptable regardless of price and or who makes the vehicle . I dont care if the vehicle is 17 thousand dollars or 45 thousand dollars it shouldnt be scratched up and swirled like hell on delivery .

well.. no you should not buy this car.. you should run as fast and as far from this dealer as possible (after getting your deposit back).. are you young? i've noticed that some dealers treat younger buyers with contempt.. treating them like poop.. i would definitely not take the car..

I mean seriously, what dealer scratches up the car and expects you to pay for it? that's hilarious.. there's gotta be another good dealer in florida.. someone on here has got to be able to help you out!

I am not that young, I am only 21, but I have bought new cars before, there are three scion dealers in the general Orlando area, David Maus treated me like poop wouldn't take care of me pushing me into something I didn't want. Central Florida Toyota had at the time (don't know if its changed) a $2000-6000 Market Value Adjustment and wouldn't take me seriously about buying the vehicle, so left there, Toyota of Orlando was OK as far as the greeters were and showing you vehicles, but as soon as you start talking to a salesman its all down hill from there, Courtesy has been the best up until recent when I actually saw the vehicle, I like the tC alot, its unique and different, I don't care if there are more and more on the road, mine would be eventually custom to a point. But I just keep getting the runaround on buying this car, its gotten to the point that I have just wasted the last three months in trying to acquire this car. What really bugs me is I am putting $13,000 down, more than half the value of the car, Hello.... what dealer wouldn't want to work with that, its really beyond me why I am not getting service I should be. I have all the funds ready to go, my loan for the rest is ready to go, I am set to buy this car, and have been for a month now, but than all this poop happens, scratches, swirls, half-leather, Its unbelievable. So unless they order a new one, dealer trade, and get it here within a matter of days, I will be getting my deposit back, as it wasn't delivered as promised, cars got 1mi ODO and its scratched up. I do appreciate all the advice from yall, it helps, they were trying to push me to take it off the lot, and sign a paper saying they would take care of it, but I know too well. So again thanks and if there is any dealers on this forum in Florida let me know, cause if I do decide to stick with a tC I will be coming to you. Thanks again for all the replies.

i wouldn't definitely see if someone else around your area would be able to help out.. yeah i agree it's ridiculous what you've gone through.. MVA? what a joke with that one dealer.. they can keep it.. should definitely be reported to scion about that one.

sounds really shady about pushing a car with so many problems on ya, glad you didn't fall for it!! i would definitely stay away from all those dealers, there's gotta be a good dealer on here from florida that could hook you up..

The kits the Scion dealers usually offer are made by Katzkinz. I got the option on my 05 tC. It's subcontracted out to an uphoulstery shop in the area that the dealer has confidence in. I am very satisfied with my perforated black leather seats. They seem to be holding up very well and acutally seems to have thicker, better quality leather panels than my last car, a VW Passat GLX.
The Katzkinz kit do include door and rear panel inserts. Although they seem to be made of imitation leather (vinyl) they seem to be OK jn general. Actually, this is a common practice even with factory installed leather interiors even in more expensive car brands. They only use leather on the seating surfaces where it really counts and use a good vinyl imitation for seat sides, backs and door panels. Otherwise It'll cost you twice as much. For the ALL leather interior, you may have to look at Mercedes, Jaguar, Lexus and similarly priced cars.
Check if the kit they put in was a Katzkinz kit. If it is, you should demand for them to install the door and rear panels too!

I appreciate all the replies, it has been nothing but a dissatisfied experience trying to get a tC, but you order car and don't expect to show up like I have described, its insane. I will be visiting them tomorrow, and see what they are going to do, cause I won't take it with the condition the paint is in, and won't take it even if they repaint it, repainted panels never look like the original..... imo, I use to work at a bodyshop so.... but as far as the leather I will have to find out, either way, they are going to have to get me another tC and within days or just get me deposit back, and off to another dealer that have some other cars I like, and that would be it, no tC for me than. It just upsets me that four seperate dealerships have treated me like crap except this last one, this one just messed up the paint and interior soo.. there loss is anothers (deakerships) gain (if they don't do anything for me). So again thanks all for the replies, hopefully I will know tomorrow whats going on. Thanks again.

Yeah man, dont let em punk u. WE all have the swirls, but we didnt buy it with swirls lol. The paints really cheap. As for the seats, i would just order it without the seats and buy them (katzskin) from Creativecompacts for 800 and have a friend help me put them in.

scions tc's sell ....so I hate to say it but they will give your money back with a finger. just take a deep breath and find a dealer that has a demo model in the color you want. there are plenty of places that will do leather for you. hell call katskins and they will help you get it done. you can go to any dealer and negotiate a price and then say ..oh yeah i want you guys to cut a check to "----" for leather and finance it with the car and they usually will (especially if you do all the leg work).

good luck..

1. I hate to say this but 21 is still young. (thats not a bad thing). When I was buying my first car(s) I brought my father with me. Yes it may seem cheesy but hey it worked. My dad had bought many cars and he didn't take any sh*t from the finance department or the sales people. Even if you are not haggling with scion, the presence of an older person makes a difference.

2. I would get the leather done after the fact and pay cash for it. This will be less money you are paying out in interest (although it won't be that much since you are only financing around 7K). But money is money.

3. If this is the only dealer around then just beware that you also have to deal with their service department for the next 3 years....

good luck
